Spice Den

Please forgive us, Spice Den. For staying there, for walking past you, for going instead to Kobkunka Thai instead. We came back for dessert to salvage our evening. Beautiful, beautiful restaurant, service was super friendly and classy and the diners around us had aesthetically pleasing food with wonderful aromas. Restaurant was still at 80% capacity at 9 pm and ppl were clearly enjoying their dining experiences. Our absolute loss for not eating dinner here. Will have to make another trip in the near future. Dessert was a visually pleasing and dammed delicious. Thank you for the short, but lovely experience.

Tonight we dined at Spice den. For a restaurant that has such a great reputation we were left disappointed. The food was tasty but not worth the price we paid. I felt like I had to constantly wave staff down and ask for things like a menu after they were taken away once we ordered 1 entree and our drinks? Unfortunately one of our mains came out wrong; after taking a few bites we realised and sent it back. We didn’t receive an apology and when we got our correct dish it was just put in the middle of the table with “here’s your curry”. By the time it arrived our rice had done cold and hard. The overall presentation of the restaurant was nice and the atmosphere was vibrant but the service was poor. It felt like no one was running the show and it was every service man/ lady for themselves.

Could not be more impressed with the food, service and ambiance of this absolutely wonderful establishment. A very memorable dining experience. As a retired Chef having served in some of the best restaurants in London, Paris and Belgium I was indeed impressed. My considered opinion is that this particular restaurant ticks all the right boxes.

After hearing awesome things about the restaurant we decided to give it a go. The food was over priced for the taste - prawn crackers were not tasty, the pork belly wasn’t hot all the way through and the chicken tasted like it had been microwaved as well. The staff were nice and the atmosphere was nice - we did get our food very fast and drink service too, as well as a complimentary ice cream at the end. Disappointed to have paid a lot of money to get really average tasting food!

Everyone I've met has always recommended Spice Den and I can say that the food is really good! Service was fast and didn't have to wait long for food, despite a busy Wednesday night. However, the cocktails served tonight did not meet my expectations. The cocktail had ice overflowing and it watered down the drink, and just made our table really messy. Final verdict: Definitely go for the food and maybe stick with a glass of wine for your visit 👍
