Passing through charlottes and found Haberdish and well some good dishes. Don't get me wrong, this is not a place for high end southern food (although where would u even find a place for that in the south) but be prepared for large portions (i mean look how many hush puppies come in one order i loved them) and a rustic flare in each dish. We came in the summer so there was outdoor and indoor seating. Both are fine choices. My only complain is the time we came. For some reason during lunch hours they don't serve bone-in chicken... how crazy is that. How can you be a southern restaurant and not have bone-in chicken at all times. We settled for this chicken tender resemblance because we were craving chicken that much. But do get the hush puppies, the largest and one of the most delicious hush puppies I have ever tasted and there were like a dozen of them. We ended up getting to georgia the same night and I woke up and at the leftover hush puppies. We also got the bannana pudding nothing to rave about lots of cream not alot of bananna. :(

Went today to celebrate my Sons graduation. Party of 6, service and food were amazing!!! My son picked and I wasn’t sure about the menu. The Best Chicken Sandwich ever! And the Mac & Cheese was amazing!! The only downside was we brought our own cake and they charged $10 to serve it, We did offer to purchase a single banana pudding but still a charge.

I've been on the hunt for some chicken & waffles which is what led me to Haberdish. It started with a rainy night and the car packed streets of NODA so I found myself doing circles trying to find a spot. Eventually, I found a spot up the road and walked about a block or two to the restaurant. Upon entry, you get this intimate vibe with their low light setting. I can really appreciate this atmosphere if it is done right and they nailed it.
I was deciding on where to sit, and I have started to enact a new rule for myself to sit at the bar if I am solo dining. This is typically a decision that is made upon entry though, and I will gauge it based on how the space is laid out. I find that you'll typically meet someone interesting or have a good conversation with the locals which has been my experience lately. Anyways, I took my seat at the bar, and I started to read through the menu. On the backside, it details a little bit more about the restaurant. This made me love it even more since they sourced and repurposed local materials from the surrounding area which added a lot of character. Eventually, I circled back to the food after taking in all their creative touches, and I stuck with my decision to go with the chicken and waffles.
I am no chicken and waffles connoisseur, but this was by far the best chicken and waffles I have ever had. I chose to go with the white meat which included a breast and a wing. The chicken was juicy as all get out and it had the perfect exterior crunch. The maple butter syrup that came with it was to die for! Although, let's not forget about this waffle. Most places I have noticed typically do the fluffy belgian style waffle, and I personally don't think that style of waffle pairs well with chicken. Haberdish makes this delightful pearl sugar liège waffle which I have never even heard of before. It's a little more dense but in the best way possible. It also had these caramelized sugar chunks incorporated into the batter which were the most delicious surprises. Overall, they managed to perfectly balance the sweetness and savoriness while still allowing each component to shine in its own way. Honestly, they hit this chicken and waffles out of the park!
After eating the best chicken & waffles I have ever had, I didn't really plan on getting dessert. My waiter had asked though if I was interested so I figured why not and ordered the apple hand pies. Make sure to bring a friend if you are going to get these since it came with two decent sized apple hand pies plus ice cream. I was actually surprised that I was able to finish them. These must have been made in house since you could tell they used fresh apples. The inside was a little ooey gooey which I wasn't sure if it was from the interior crust being slightly undercooked but it was still good. It was also accompanied by a caramel sauce so it was sort of a rich dessert. I liked it, but if you had to come here and try one thing, go for the chicken and waffles.
The service was exceptional and you get a warm towel after your meal. I was able to have a great chat with a local I met at the bar and the bartenders were just good down to earth people as well. I would highly recommend coming here, and I definitely see myself dining here again in the future.

We were in town for a conference. We had some free time and decided to explore NoDa. Very neat little area. We ended our night with dinner at Haberdish. Loved the vibe in the restaurant. We tried several different things. Everything was absolutely delicious!!! We had the chicken of course, sweet potato dumplings, Mac and cheese and biscuits. We started with peanut butter and jelly bacon. I was skeptical but it was quite tasty!! I would definitely go back.

Delicious and trendy culinary experience in the heart of NoDa.
As the North Davidson Street corridor has revitalized, so to have many of its food offerings. Haberdish is a part of this development - a trendy, upscale but casual restaurant serving inspired but somewhat traditional cuisine. We went here for brunch on a Saturday morning and have southern staples like biscuits and gravy and chicken and waffles. It was all well prepared, with contemporary twists like Nashville-style "hot" chicken. We had breakfast cocktails as well which were all well done and delicious. Service was prompt and very friendly. The setting is trendy with a hint of upscale, but average for the area because many of these places share some of the design theme. Overall a decent experience.

Classy southern style restaurant with darn good food and creative drinks! Younger cousin turned 30 this week we settled here as they could accommodate a reservation for 8 and we had a blast! Food was really good, served family style (aka REALLY BIG PORTIONS)! The fried chicken was tender, the greens were cooked in veggie stock and extremely flavorful, the Mac and cheese was thick & creamy, the ribs reminded us of the Flintstone’s sized portion, and even the kids menu was well rounded. However the best dish - the cast iron trout with compound butter! We all kept coming back to that! The ambiance was very nice and service was great. Definitely in my Top 10 restaurants!

First time and definitely not the last time. Food was great! The service was awesome. The kitchen sent a free cornbread that tasted like cake. Everything was so so good. A very enjoyable experience for sure.

We had a late brunch, it was a great experience. Amazed by the great whiskey / cocktail selection that was available. The Nashville hot chicken was great and you fried chicken and waffles were pretty good good. Best crunch on the chicken I've ever had, it did not get soggy until the last bite. The fresh Vermont maple syrup direct from tree to table and the honey butter went great with the waffles and chicken. They crafted a mocktail which was phenomenal with grapefruit and citrus juice with the right carbonation. The fresh cinnamon roll with dulce de Leche was so yummy, my wife was super impressed! We'll definitely be back.

While spending a weekend exploring Charlotte we came across a cool neighborhood with trendy restaurants. Haberdish is the standout and is a must.
The dim, clean interior is inviting and relaxing. Our server, Molly, was so pleasant and kind. The chicken is the star of this restaurant, but the sides of Mac and Cheese and Brussel Sprouts are perfect accompaniments. The prices and portions are very fair. We look forward to the leftovers.
Spend an evening here and enjoy!
