Rusty's Deli & Grille

It's easy to see why Rusty's is so popular. There are so many great options and everything was delicious. Of course you have to expect a bit of a wait when you come during the peak lunch hour, and it's a small spot with not a ton of seating, but we were able to sit on the covered patio and still be quite comfy, on a day with decent weather. I highly recommend this place, but be prepared to be patient - trust me, the food is worth the wait.

Rusty’s is one of our favorite lunch spots in Charlotte. It’s been open for a long time in CLT years and the ownership/staff are super nice. The menu is primarily sandwiches and burgers. They also make chili in house and offer salads (which can be purchased in bulk to go in the fridge by the door). We’ve tried nearly everything on the menu over the years. The Cheesesteak, while not your traditional Philly chopped style, is very good and comes hoagie style. The Reuben has a ton of flavor and the Club is huge. The Chicken Salad is made in house and is one of the most popular items. Service is good. You order at the register in back now so there won’t be anyone in front to take your order. There’s outside seating for good weather days and parking is easy in the shopping center lot. They are closed on Sundays and it’s gets jammed during peak lunch times but the line moves fast and the food is worth it.

I recently ate lunch at Rusty's Deli & Grille. This place has been around since 1983, and I have never heard of this place. My girlfriend, who has lived in Charlotte her entire life, has been eating here for decades and took me here. I ordered the Chicken Salad sandwich on a croissant because it is their most popular sandwich. It was so delicious. I also shared a side of French fries that were really good. I was so impressed with Rusty's, and I look forward to coming back soon.

As a native Charlottean, Rusty's deserves a shout out for being around for 40 years and maintaining their quality and service. Don't be fooled by the small store front and unassuming decor - this place is a gem. Their loaded baked potato is my go-to(grilled chicken, cheese, mushroom & onions - yum) but the cheese steak, ruben, and chicken salad are also on point.

I have been eating at Rusty's since 1988 and it's still the same. The walls, the art, the tables and chairs and even some of the staff, no joke. And the food is absolutely the same. The Cheesetak is absolutely delicious. The fries are wonderful and the atmosphere is great. This is a south Charlotte staple. Many different items to choose from. You won't be disappointed
