Superdawg Drive-in

I grew up going to this hot dog palace. Expensive, but usually a reliably good Chicago dog. After moving out of Illinois, I found myself back in the area and stopped by for old times sake. Ordered my usual "Superdawg with everything" to go, and even sprung for a t-shirt so I could give them some free publicity in my new town. Drove away and opened up the box about 15 minutes later, ready to devour my dog. And what did I find but a hot dog covered in KETCHUP! What an abomination. Love you Superdawg but that was a total downer. Do better.

I had high expectations, and they did not disappoint. I normally am a mustard kind of guy, sometimes with coleslaw. I don't like onions or relish on my dogs or hamburgers. After watching a couple of reviews they were blown away by the fantastic mix that comes with a Superdawg. So I was brave and decided to dive into the deep end and get it the Chicago way. I actually liked it and was amazed at the way all the ingredients blended together. We came back a few days later and I tried a Superdawg with only mustard and chili. Well the Chicago style was hands down better.😮 I couldn't believe that I preferred it to my regular go to Dog. Now my quest is to try to find a "Superdawg" comp. here in Arizona. Wish me luck.

Another "not my first time here, but first Google Review" for this place! Historical and classical. Been going here ever since I can remember. You're not a Chicagoan if you haven't visited! Cash only many years ago but allowed card payments within the past decade. Did not start with a small indoor lounge, then did, and then recently used it up for employees only. Ordering with the Car Hop is a must for first timers. When ordering, it's a Superdawg not "hot dog." Tomatillos are everything, so is the classic neon green relish. Their crinkle cut fries have the best texture. Their Whoopskiburgers not "hamburger" are excellent as well and don't sleep on their Tamales. Recently learned that you can order without fries for $2.50 less. For the sweet tooth, I prefer their Malts over Shakes.
