Yuzu Sushi & Robata Grill

Stopped in on an adhoc Saturday evening pre other plans, post gym session.. food is always fresh and delicious.. today sushi chef whipped up some picked jalapeño wasabi.. enough said to pair with some hamachi.. plus they had some Japanese sashimi imports that melted in your mouth.. neighborhood joint that the whole city should enjoy.. top rate, good music, balanced price.

My sister and her husband like this place as it's close to their neighborhood and the food is interesting so we tried this when we were in town visiting. We tried the takoyaki, edamame and shishito for starters then got the Monster Spider, Black Sea, Okinawa, Love Potion #9. The decorations on the platters are gorgeous. 2 of the rolls had cucumber in them which we ordinarily like. However this time they were extremely bitter. We thought maybe it was the roll combo but all 5 of us agreed the cucumber was bitter and made the rolls taste a little weird so we did tell our waiter. The hostess then brought us a replacement for the Spider roll and said it was fresh cucumber but it still tasted bitter so we just pulled all the cucumber pieces out. The restaurant then comped us dessert because of this, which was thoughtful of them. Outside of the cucumber we enjoyed our meal and the service. The rolls are interesting and we would like to try more menu items including the robatayaki and meals like the bowls etc.

Went here on a whim because my partner and I were craving sushi and was in the area… wow I am impressed!!! Service was top tier, came in without a reservation and was seated at the sushi bar right away. My partner even spilled her spicy miso (which was 10/10 btw) and the waitress was right there with paper towels almost like magic! Food came out so quickly. The Okinawa Express was so good it made me laugh while eating it! I also loved the size of the apps, it was a good entrance into dinner and not too filling. The nigiri was fresh and well cut and served. I always order a Hamachi nigiri and that’s how I usually am able to tell quality sushi - which the hamachi was buttery and good. I also got a mocktail (strawberry fields) which was delicious so I can only assume that the actual cocktails are just as good. Also, I didn’t know this fun little detail until mid dinner because I was so into the food that they had a live DJ!! I would return here again and again! 10/10 food, service, and atmosphere.

Where do I start!? Upon walking in the host positively greeted me. Like he was glad that I came by. Love that experience when I’m going to spend money with an establishment. The waitress was also so peppy and friendly! I came in during happy hour and had a Yuzu What and Drunk in Love -as drinks! All so delicious and well crafted. I then had the shrimp tempura roll and the Breaking Bad! Some of the BEST sushi I’ve had in a long time. I’m a regular at a location in LA and this compares. Love love love and will be back!

Was this the best sushi I’ve had? No Was this the best looking sushi I’ve had? Yes They have happy hours from 4.30 to 6.30 on weekdays. The freshness in the tempuras shrimp was missing. Other that that alp the rolls were were delicious. The crab sticks from happy hour menu were very good. The service was fast and very friendly. Our server was very attentive and made sure our glasses were always full. Would recommend to try out this restaurant atleast once. The art 🖼️ on the sushi platter is why we visited. Ample options on both food and drinks menu.
