Place is clean, food is good, prices are reasonable, and the service is great and the ppl are friendly. What more could you ask for? Only thing is, i dont know if the famous italian beef sandwich is so great. Seems to me to just be a hot beef sandwich. Dont get me wrong. It was very good. But nothing a regular person who can cook a roast couldnt pull off. I did expect something extraordinary when i tried chicagos famous italian beef. Maybe a signature dipping sauce or house spices, or something that is a house “secret”. So i rate it high for quality and restaurant experience, given that the staff here are awesome, but i dunno that its that origional. BUT, they do know how to cook beef, ill give em that. And as a french fry lover, they have great fries!

Al’s has great sandwiches. I recommend trying an Italian beef sandwich doubles dipped. With some fries you can’t go wrong.
The people here were really nice and the restaurant was really clean. I had a sandwich here then I ordered on doordash and was happy both times.

Always a fan of Italian Beef and there is no more obvious place to go than AL's. I loved the location of this spot, so close to Wrigley Field and easy access to the L Train. The service was very friendly, which I was surprised by. The sandwich was good, but needed to be even sloppier. I would go again.

Delicious Italian beef. I got it wet and it was awesome. Almost wish I could have done dry with dip to make it more like a French dip. Walking distance from the cubs. They do not use MSG, mono sodium glutamate in the beef/gravy.

Stopped here after the Cubs game and bought a couple polishes and beef sandwiches. Everything was on the mark and the food came out fast. I don't know which is the best in the city, but this is quality fast food. They deserve the premier location and praise. Great job!

If you've never had an Italian beef sandwich, I highly recommend getting one from here. Just ignore any place that isn't Al's. After trying one the other day (from the restaurant that will not be mentioned in this review), this one is 10 times better. The other restaurant sandwich was a dry flavorless mistake - here it was a hot, juicy, delicious meal. See the photo of my Italian beef spicy wet sandwich. This small shop was really clean, everyone was friendly and the owner/Mgr stopped by and chatted for a bit.
