Koval Distillery

I'm giving this a 5* for the tasty drinks (which is why you go). But in all honesty I'm a fan of their liquors already so I wasn't going to be the toughest judge. The not so perfect... The staff was great, but the service is odd. You order at the bar then go sit at a table to wait for them to bring you the drinks. Fine but wasn't super clear if I need to wait, sit, pay, give a cc for a tab, ect. The ambiance: all is good EXCEPT the lighting, it is way too bright. Feels more like a midday coffee shop then cool bar. Just dim those lights please. You can bring outside food which is nice since they do not serve food. Overall solid experience and love supporting a local distillery.

We recently hosted a 3 hour corporate reception here and were BLOWN AWAY with the space and staff. Clients flew in from all over the US for this event, and everyone was absolutely raving. We were able to customize the cocktail menu, bring in any catering, and do distillery tours all for a great inclusive price. We will 100% be doing more events here. The bartenders and Mark, our main contact, were incredible to work with. Highly highly recommend!

Visited last night for the magic show. We were greeted on entry and checked in by a nice fellow, nice lobby/area to lounge, good for groups, also good for kids as they had high chairs, bar tenders were helpful and nice, we had about 6 cocktails including their signature old fashioned, they were pretty good. Magic show was fun and entertaining. I’d say slightly over priced but doable

Visited Chicago from New Hampshire. Visited three distilleries and Koval was the clear winner of the three. Had their liqueur flight and their gin flight. While their base gin is fairly standard, their barrel gin is significantly better than other aged gins I’ve had previously. Their cranberry gin liqueur is adult cranberry juice and I need more of it in my life. The three liqueurs we tried were the chrysanthemum & honey, coffee, and rose hip. C&H was great. I really liked the rose hip and regret not buying a bottle on our way out, but we already picked up three bottles 😅.

My wife and I had a great time on the Koval distillery tour. Our tour guide, Emily, was enthusiastic, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Her explanations were very clear and she made the atmosphere of the tour informative and fun. The tour was held in the big distillery room, which has a very large, garage-door-style, delivery entrance door that was open. The tasting tables were also spread out. After the tour, we stopped into the new tasting room, which is really nice, but we didn't stay long since we'd already tried 4 or 5 whiskies! It was a very enjoyable kickoff to a special occasion Saturday for us.

Koval never disappointments. From the pre Covid days of tours to their online classes and sales, they are fun and knowledgeable. Of course the products all are delicious. Favorites include the Millet, Pink Corn, and Cranberry Gin. This Thanksgiving was extra special with the Sidecar made with Cranberry Gin, Ginger Liquor and lemon juice! Thank you for the fun and wonderful products!

Took the tour and was impressed by the enthusiasm, humor, and knowledge of our guide Emily. Great sense of pace and engagement and loved the authentic explanations and dive into the nature of whisky, bourbon, and gin. Great tastings and finally got to identify the whiskey that got me into actually drinking the stuff (Millet) accurately described as the gateway whiskey (super clean, low burn, but tasty) Introduced to a wider range of products than I was aware Koval made, particularly the peach and plum brandies, the chrysanthemum and honey, ginger, and caraway liqueurs, and the incredibly delicious maple syrup that I'm excited to use in an Old Fashioned. Looking forward to the new location opening this Spring!
