The Red Lion Lincoln Square

So after visiting some friends in the UK, I wanted a similar experience here in Chicago. What I realized is that’s pretty difficult. This place offered a nice variety of British inspired or made from foods that were pretty on point for being extremely well cooked and just taste that is amazing. Shepherds pie for one. My friend ordered something with fish, which I naturally don’t like, and it absolutely blew my mind. All the staff were amazing friendly and talkative when I asked about details of the business. Even showed me a few British videos to share! Thanks again! Will visit again

I belong to a music lovers album review group. We meet here because they accommodate our group of about ten. The staff is always friendly with really good service. It has a welcoming neighborhood pub vibe. They have a good selection of beer and cider. I just wish they offered a vegan friendly dish once in awhile. They're really meat heavy so I'm thinking, nah

Very cozy pub! Especially love coming here when it's colder. They make good curry chips and curry wings (red is spicier, green is sweeter). They also have seasonal items on their menu that I would like to try next time. They also have mulled wine! Yum! The service is always great and prices are reasonable. They also have a private room that you can reserve for meetings or small events, which we have done before. Actually, in the past, we would watch The Walking Dead in there with strangers! That was always a fun time.

Very solid pub food selection, a step above normal bar food. Service is usually quite good. Decent beer selection, especially if you like traditional UK styles. Nice atmosphere as well. Only knock is that the kitchen closes at 10, as my wife and I tend to eat very late on weekends. Otherwise a great spot.

Classic touch of Britain complete with the vintage hardwood bar and surroundings. Very good beer selection. Whiskey and Scotch offerings pretty good as well. The waitress was very friendly as were all the staff working. Great neighborhood atmosphere and the food was quite tasty. We had the Salmon burger which was excellent. Highly recommend you stop here if you are in the neighborhood.

Red Lion is a Chicago British pub in the Lincoln Square neighborhood. Living close by it, I really wanted to love it and for it to become one of my favorite places. It never did. The staff and the owners are very friendly, service is good overall. Fish and chips (especially CHIPS) are really yum. I'm not crazy about other food on their menu. They have some English ales on tap and some bottled, so that's nice, as well as at least one hand-pulled pint on the list. The inside is similar to some historic London pubs - very brown, dusty, and dark. Maybe that's the reason I didn't take to this place - I don't care for tinted windows on the outside and what seems to be stale air on the inside. On a warm and sunny day it's great to sit outside and chill with a pint and a basket of chips (fries) with curry sauce.
