Enso Sushi & Bar

The place is really cute/cool inside, very big space, plenty of tables and room. It might get loud and echo-y during busier times. The food seems like your run of the mill Japanese - the rolls were fresh and plenty of special maki options. Suggest getting the spicy mayo on the side, as it made the rolls (spicy salmon, Lady Diana, spicy scallop) taste too similar. The duck buns were very good. The best part was the appetizer pork belly - four large cubes, well cooked and nicely seared on the outside, with a sweet-ish finish. It's a larger appetizer that can easily be shared with up to four people. The rolls are on the pricier side, but seems on par with the neighborhood. Yummy lychee martini. Overall, the food was fresh and good. Servers were quick and very nice.

BEST sushi dinner + night out in Wicker Park It's usually hard to find the right vibes or food or group sitting for night outs. We booked a last-minute reservation for Enso on New Year's Eve. We were seated after the whole party had arrived. The restaurant was relatively full upon arrival. The shape of the room is very unique with the walls curving upward, forming an arch. It created a more intimate environment overall. Service was a bit slow but it appeared that they were understaffed. Everyone was friendly and the food and drinks arrived quickly. The miso soup was quite hot, perfect for the cold evening. The sushi was good overall. The rolls seemed heavy on the sauces, but that may have been our selection. I wasn't able to understand which roll was which, but we ordered 6 in total: Spicy Salmon Maki, Summer, Crunch, Lady Diana, Romper, and Akuma's Head. Overall, we enjoyed them all. Our visit to Enso was nice. The food was good and the ambiance was perfect for a relaxed NYE. I would consider returning next time I'm in the neighborhood.

Hello Traveler, I would definitely recommend this place if you are in the area. Really enjoyed the sushi here! Excellent sushi and great service. The staff introduced the new Menu " Whisper ", so I reviewed what the compositions how this become. There are Salmon, Shrimp, Cucumber, and Yuzu Mayo Sauce. I like it at the first thought. Recommended to try this New menu. The place a bit dark, but it is the place where you can talked with friends. I like this comfortable place. Great atmosphere! I will go back again if I have the chance to re-visit this area. The food is great and the staff is very nice.

It's a new favourite of mine for sure! I adore the veggie dragon sushi, it's seriously some of the best sushi I've ever had. As a vegetarian, I always appreciate when a place like this can make a vegetarian dish full of flavour. I love the vibes of this place, too, the chandeliers are a nice touch. Our server was helpful and very friendly. We went around 4 PM on a Sunday and it wasn't too crowded and very chill.

Upon entering, I grabbed hand sanitizer and the attendants there looked confused, as if I knew what I was coming in for. I was waiting as the sign said "wait to be seated". They told me to sit wherever I wanted to. The place itself is slightly dark ambience, where not much light is around compared to outside. You have to wait a while for your eyes do get adjusted to the room. As I sit down, the waiter did not explicitly give me directions on what to do, but I was able to understand that the menu is the QR code. While reading the menu, it was slightly confusing to me as I did not know if the bottom of the page had a correlation with the next column of the menu, or continue scrolling down to see the rest of the section. Food: Upon arrival, the person serving my food (not the waiter) threw the plate to the table, not placing it gently on the table. My actual waiter did do this when my second plate arrived. The pork bun was not how I expected it to look like. The flavor of the pork could have been better. The other items that went with the pork bun did give it flavor. The main dish mostly actually good. The lemon wedges did take the main flavor away on some fish, but it's good to have that there for people who like a little acidity. The white rice actually had flavor. That's a plus. I was not able to tell the flavor, but it was certainly different compared to how others places prepare their white rice. Upon paying, i was given the recipe through a rusty, old box that looks as if it was stolen from American Express (the company logo is on there). That was not too amusing. Overall, if I could, I give this place 3.5 stars. 4 stars since it rounds up. The lightening could be improved, especially for someone who's coming in, when outside is very bright. The method of providing the receipt needs to be improved.
