Slice Of Chicago Pizza Tours

The tour was fun and informative despite the downpour of rain. After reading some of the previous reviews, I was worried about the amount of pizza we would get. Everyone on the tour got a decent sized slice of pizza from each of the three restaurants and had an opportunity to have more if they wanted. Like the other reviews said, the only restaurant you go inside and can order drinks is pizzeria ora. Bring an umbrella if rain is likely.

We had a wonderful pizza tour. Our tour guide was Will and we did the 4:30pm tour. Even though we walked thru driving rains and umbrella collapsing wind - we had a great time learning about deep-dish pizza while eating at each of the restaurants, including Pizzeria Uno, which has the original deep-dish pizza. Will was a great tour guide and we really enjoyed all the things he had to tell us about pizza and Chicago. We had a great evening.

Although our tour guide was good, the experience was just ...so so. At the first Pizzeria- We were not allowed to eat inside- it was a nice evening so it was too much of a problem. When the tour guide had commented " at least its not raining outside"- I had asked " would you be allowed inside if that were the case"? Her response was "no"- all I could envision was eating soggy pizza. The tour guide gave us some history about the pizzeria but I was able to hear most of what she said because the music was blaring from the restaurant's outside speakers. At least at the second Pizzeria we were able to go inside, but at the third one we had to not only stand outside but had to eat our pizza standing up. I have been on several food tours in the past but none that made you stay outside the restaurant. I understand that these restaurants are busy but that is no excuse and frankly it doesn't fair well for them nor the food tour having patrons eat outside. I would had definitely of liked pizza with more than just cheese on it!

Skip it! Not worth the cost. We visited three spots; small samples were given at each. You definitely will not be full or satisfied after the tour is over. The three places combined are like a pizza appetizer by way of the quantity of food you receive. The pizzerias are all within two blocks of each other, but we walked five blocks out the way west to see the wholesale meat market where the ingredients come from (only the exterior of the building not the inside). Also, we learned that in the 90s crack and heroine were sold via the Rock and Roll McDonald's drive through. This is a pizza tour, we wanted pizza!!! Pizza crawl on your own, you can get a lot of great pizza for $50 pp!! Not worth it; tour earned two stars only bc the guide was witty and somewhat entertaining.

I went on the 4:30 PM tour. I wish I could remember the name of the tour guide, but he did an excellent job. I really enjoyed the tour. As a local Chicagoan, I'll certainly go back next time I have friends visiting. I went on this tour on a cloudy Friday afternoon. We went to Pizzeria Uno, Pizzeria Ora, and Gioradano's. Each of the pizza places was excellent. The guide was very friendly and gave us a lot of information about the history of Chicago pizza. I like how the tour was spaced out. We stood at Uno's at the start of the tour, but when we got to Ora, we were able to sit down. Very reasonably priced beer was available for purchase at Ora and water was available as well. We then had a longer walk when we walked by Gino's East on the way towards Gioradano's. Gioradano's had just closed their outdoor seating, but they allowed us to use it for this tour so we could sit down. This tour is very highly recommended, a great way to get pizza at some of the best Chicago pizza places without the long waits.
