Sun Dog Diner

Fantastic place for excellent food and great atmosphere. I was greeted with a warm welcome with the level of hospitality remaining high throughout my time here. After getting my dinner I was checked on and my drink was refreshed throughout. Their Arnold Palmer was spot on, well made and hit all the right sweet and sour points. Mac & cheese was creamy and full of flavour, the best I've had. Fried chicken was delicious, tender with a generous crispy coating. Very lightly fried, no taste of oil and the flavour complimented the chicken instead of overpowering it. The coleslaw was notable as well with the fresh additions of tomato and cucumber making it a step above others. The decor and music are spot on too, absolutely recommend anyone to give Sun Dog Diner a visit.

Our family desperately needing breakfast and after hearing amazing things about this location we gave it a shot. Called ahead and our table was waiting. Greeted with a smile as we came in, the atmosphere was really inviting. First let me tell you the smells coming from the kitchen were amazing. We ordered Jenga French Toast, Burrito Reynolds x 2 and the Superfly Nachos. All of our food came out hot and fresh and it was an incredible experience. The nachos were described by my wife as the most legit so far in NZ. The chef might be an American? Hoping to return for dinner soon and will update again. If you family needs food and it's breakfast, well head here....it was a great experience. You and your family will not be disappointed.

This is a amazing brunch spot. Phenomenal food and drinks with a unique atmosphere to boot. The custom specialty made drink menu, both alcoholic and NA is endless. The food is made in house and it shows. I had the chicken fried steak. The staff is friendly and efficient. Highly recommend for the full brunch experience.

This has got to be my favourite restaurant of all time! I really wish we lived closer so I could visit here all the time. I love everything about this restaurant, especially their extensive menu with loads of options. The food is fantastic and being able to get a half order is wonderful. Also big props for having a Bloody Mary on the menu!

This place is unreal! Stop reading reviews and just check it out. Not everyday that you come across a place with 4.7 stars after 900 reviews! Pro tip - Go for half time so that you can sample two dishes - I did that with the reverend and eggs benny. Fantastic! The Philly cheesesteak is good too. Some of the friendliest and most helpful waiters around.

The family and I had a late breakfast at the Sundog Diner, the place was clean and nicely laid out with lots of nods to the original American diners, tastefully done, there were plenty of things from past and present to amuse, both parents and children. I unfortunately have IBS and follow the "Fodmap" program to regulate my diet, the waitress and the chef went out of their way to assist and accommodate my needs, they literally couldn't have been more helpful! I ended up having the home cooked corn beef with bacon and soft cooked poached eggs, all of which was cooked beautifully, as were the dishes ordered by the rest of the family. I can't recommend this gem enough, and will be definitely returning on a future visit to Christchurch.

What a fantastic place. Great Animation/comic strip vibe,but the food is absolutely delicious. I had the southern fried chicken with fries,(the best I have ever tasted by the way),and the accompanying salad was fresh as, with a tasty dressing. The menu is extensive and works well for anyone. And the cocktails are really, really good. The staff are friendly and very attentive to give you great customer service. This place although small and inconspicuous is an absolute must to visit, just on the outskirts of the city but easy to get to, you'll not be disappointed. I highly recommend it.
