Bang On Thai

Visited Bang On Thai with 2 friends today. The staffs are welcoming and friendly, the restaurant has a cosy atmosphere with art deco and soft back ground music. True Thai cuisines at affordable costs, our food- Tom Yum soup, rice, vegetable springrolls arrived very quickly. We enjoyed our food very much from start to the last mouthful. Will definitely visit Bang On again in the near future. Thank you.

31st May 2019 - this foodie review is based on my personal experience and it is based on the date of my visit. This is an established Thai 🇹🇭 restaurant that is located in Papanui area. It is now under a new business proprietor on that day. We went there for dinner before catching a late night movie and I didn't make any reservation. When we arrived, there were plenty of empty seats and two ✌ people waiting for their takeaway orders. We were not expecting too much (we came with an open minded) but since it is highly rated on Google Maps, I am guessing that the taste must be good. Anyway, the interior layout is simple and don't expect fancy decoration. The place is well-lit but general comfort heating was inadequate. There was only one gas heater in the dining area and that evening 🌃 was quite cold ❄. Anyway, the menu is very straightforward and not overwhelming (which is a good thing) with choices but rather nicely balanced. They have duck, chicken, beef, pork and many more, and can tailor to suits your taste! We ordered two ✌ dishes; Pad Thai and Thai green curry. The dishes have its own distinct taste and flavour. The Pad Thai noodles was delicious due to the strong flavor of seasonings and served with fresh bean sprouts and more. I asked for a hot 🔥 green curry and it was reasonably hot 🔥. Next time I'll ask for Thai hot 🔥. The curry was flavoursome and the sauce was thick (just like the way I like it) Overall, it was a good experience for the first visit to this restaurant 🍴 with a minor disappointment with their general heating. I would recommend that they install a wall-mounted heat pump and air conditioning unit to keep warm during winter and cool during summer. Good portion sizes. This is a child-friendly restaurant. There is outdoor dining area. There is street parking 🅿. They accept cash and EFTPOS (debit card 💳) only, and no credit card payment (Paywave payments are not available, for those who want to know). the combination entree was excellent with some of the best flavours we have had at a Thai restaurant. all mains were cooked well and to the degree of hot ordered. one minor problem was rectified. without that this place is a definite five star. it is BYO only. good parking. has takeaways. prices are very reasonable. well worth a visit
