Mai Thai Restaurant

I have been trying different green curries around NZ and this has been my favorite and closest to the curry I had in Thailand. The food was made quickly and the portions were solid. We spent $60 on a green curry, spring rolls, pad thai (I think?) and a side of peanut satay sauce. We both ate our leftovers for lunch the next day.

I had my 62nd Birthday there , the staff had set up loads of ballons and supplied a yummy chocolate Cake to finish the night. I had 16 people plenty of space with two large tables pushed togeather . Food was supplied quickly with trays of Thai starters scattered over the tables. Meals for everyone came out very quickly and everyone ate togeather and drank some of our BYO wine, supplimented with Thai beers 🍻 from Mai Thai, the Beef Cheeks were to die for as well as Huge lamb shanks, everyone reported tasty food, myself i had Thai Hot others not hot at all .Well done MaiThai for giving me a great night.

Our family had a meal here over the weekend. One of us had the salmon green curry. Best green curry we've had in a long time. We also had the Holy Basil Stir Fry with beef, which was excellent and tender. The big letdown, though, was the Holy Basil Stir Fry with Crispy Pork. Don't make the mistake of ordering this. The pieces of pork were tiny and tough and certainly NOT crispy. I was afraid I'd chip a tooth if I kept eating it. This was truly disappointing. It seemed to be a parsimonious serving of pork that had either been overcooked or reheated. Big letdown. The vegetables were fresh, though, and the spices were just right!
