Mr Joe's Steak House & Restaurant

We were in Columbia to rent a couple of e-bikes at the newly opened Lets Roll bicycle shop on Locust. We headed over to Mr Joe's Steak House expecting to dine on a coupe of NY strip steaks or rib eyes. NOPE. Mr Joe's makes chopped steak sandwiches, but by cracky he does it very very well. Some of the best tasting beef I've eaten in a long long time. This was not a stereotypical Philly cheesesteak either. The sandwich bagan with slices of provolone on a tasty soft roll, filled with tenderly delicious chopped steak that was not over cooked, and topped with a marinara sauce. Absolutely delicious! We also tried the onion rings that were dipped in a light beer batter and fried to perfection. The food here was a delight to eat. I star off though due to the uncleanliness and clutter throughout the restaurant.

Amazing! The bread is not too tough like most places, but also holds up if you get sauce because the sauce is thick and on top away from the roll (I used ketchup for this one). Probably the best meat I gotten in a cheese steak, and chopped to perfection. It sounds like some people feel uncomfortable eating alone if they don't have other customers (???) Weird, but I also ate alone and it was a nice view and the staff was very friendly. For the price and convenient location, you really can't beat it! Size pictured is half of a medium sandwich.

I love their cheese steak sandwiches. I add lettuce, tomatoes and raw onions. It had a very fresh roll, the steak meat was tender ( no gristle or fat) and the sauce was just the finishing touch. The sweet potato fries are great. Top your meal off with a fountain soda with a splash of flavor (we add vanilla). This is not a fancy place however I highly recommend it for a steak sandwich!
