Hickory Tavern

The tea-rriffic cocktails were good and strong. The grouper sandwich was crispy and delicious - perfectly seasoned and fried. The shrimp po'boy was disappointing - there were like 5 small shrimp on the roll. The tots and tavern chips were cold. We ordered nachos but they were out of chips so we kept the appetizer with fries and it was delicious. The service and ambience were great. Our waitress was amazing! We watched an entire game during our visit - staff changed the channels and sound for the game. We will definitely be back.

Hit or miss. I went on Thursday and had the best experience. Service was great, food was perfect. I had the salmon with broccoli and brussle sprouts. Everything was impeccable! The salmon had a nice crust, super moist. The broccoli was steamed perfectly, tasted so very fresh. The Brussel spouts? So good. I left a 40% tip because of the service and food. On Saturday evening I told my sister and son about how good this place was. Hyped it up so much I won the vote as to where we went. We arrived at 7. We were seated outside, as requested. It took forever for someone to even take our drink order. One hour after we arrived, we still didn't have our food. Mind you, the restaurant was not busy. At this point I went to the hostess stand to ask to get our food to go. The food came out about ten minutes later, cold. We had asked for two orders Togo, but these were not put in yet. Understandable. The eta on these two burgers, ten minutes. We sat there for 25 minutes. The food we ordered, and then got to go, was eaten. Except the food truck chicken and rice I ordered. No sauces came with it. The waiter/ess purposefully made a point to not make eye contact with us. They never refilled drinks. Always put their back to us. It was ridiculous and honestly one of the worst dining experiences I've had. Then the food was cold and dry. The photos show the first set of Brussel spouts I got compared to the second.

Kudos to Hickory Tavern for great food and drinks. The wait wasn’t long at all even in the wake of a somewhat full house and limited staff. Our server Hannah was so patient and very charismatic in how what navigated through the floor making sure each of her guest needs were met. We will be sure to visit again.

We went in one evening before the dinner rush. Our waitress was super nice and sweet. I had a new power bowl that I feel needs to remove from the menu. My friend enjoyed his power bowl. The fresh baked cookies were a hit for us once we got home. Overall, I like Hickory Tavern. The bowl wasn't nasty I just didn't care for it.

I would steer clear from this location until they can work out their staffing issues! It used to be a good place to eat, but they are very understaffed currently. The supervisor on duty was downright rude to us when we were trying to be seated outdoors. She raised her voice and was very snappy when explaining that we couldn't be seated on the patio because she only had 2 servers for dinner. We were seated inside and ordered our food. My husband's food came out missing the TWO sauces that were supposed to be components of the dish. The server apologized when we questioned the lack of any sauce and she brought us two containers of sauce for my husband to add to the dish himself. I ordered a burger medium well, and it came out very dry and definitely well-done. There were no toppings on the burger. The waitress took it back and returned it with lettuce, tomato, and onions. I had to ask her to bring the pickles that still hadn't been added. Sadly, the lettuce had brown spots and was very wilted, so I couldn't consume that. The server was very nice and apologetic, and she was clearly working hard! I felt bad that she was being run ragged because the kitchen staff kept messing up the dishes. She did explain that there were some new staff in the kitchen. I'm not saying I will never go back to this restaurant, but I do plan to give it a while to see if they can sort out their issues.

We just left the Pelham Dr location. It was a slow time period and we sat inside. I was recommended this restaurant because of the "great" burgers. Pros -We didn’t have to wait long to sit, place our order, get the food, or wait for a to-go order. -The fries were 8/10. -Hubby said the Reuben was delicious. Cons -Although our waitress (don't remember her name) only had our table another one (3 people), after giving us our food, she never checked in on us, asked if we wanted drink refills, nothing. The majority of the time we were looking around for her because she had disappeared into the back with the other waitstaff. -Why are people scared of seasoning meat!!! I experienced this so much in San Antonio, where we just moved from, and this is the first time in SC that I’ve had a bland burger. If condiments like ketchup, Mayo, etc. don't come with it (which can be fine), the burger better have flavor. I got the tavern/basic cheeseburger. Minus the single tomato slice that was white (so not even a tomato flavor), the burger was too thick to not have any seasoning, even salt, on it. All I could taste was plain meat and lettuce. 1/10 -My daughter and sister got the Southern Chicken BLTs (to-go order). Again, flavorless meat - chicken in this case. At least they used real bacon, but sadly that was the only thing with flavor. The "buttered" broccoli was sans butter and, of course, salt or any other seasoning. 2/10 My suggestion - Avoid the meat. We won’t be coming back.
