Steak 'n Shake

How are you Steak ‘n Shake but your shake machine is down? I can see why the excitement has died down with this location. Since day one, their customer service was never anything to write home about, food quality is inconsistent, and now you can add ‘no shakes’ to the growing list to disappointments. Just go to the one in Greenbrier and save yourself the headache.

Verdict: Gross. The fries are the same as Freddie's but without the tasty seasoning. No ketchup in the bag for the fries. They put raw onions on the burger when it wasn't supposed to have any without me asking. The bottom bun was burnt and inedible. The bacon on the burger was cold. The meat was strangly greasy. Took over 30 minutes in the drive through. Shake was weird because it had ice crystal chunks in it-- like the ice cream had melted and refroze then wasn't blended well. Wasn't even full, they put the bubble lid on the top for the whip cream but it had an inch of space in the top even with the whip cream. Total waste of money.

I'll get the short part out of the way first: The food was great and the shakes were delicious. This is a great place to eat with the family because the prices are so good. I will definitely be back but I would like to point out the issues I had on my first visit to this location. I came here for the first time near the end of happy hour. Nobody was at the podium with the sign "Please wait to be seated". After waiting about 5 minutes without anyone even walking by, I asked someone "Is it really wait to be seated?" since I had seen a number of people walk in and out without being seated. They said yes and seated my wife and I promptly. However after being handed a menu, we waited at least 10 minutes before being asked what we wanted to drink while another couple that walked in was immediately seated and had their order taken. I had already finished my first drink and gotten a refill before my wife's shake came out(which we had to remind our waitress we had ordered one and even which one it was). Fast forward - our food had come out and she was enjoying her shake. Another guy walks in and asks about waiting to be seated. Unlike us, however, he was asked to wait at the sign (which is right AT the door so you basically have the door on your back while waiting to be seated. Not good for busier hours). He was seated after a few minutes. I decided to order a shake close to the end of my visit, which was brought to me promptly in contrast to my wife's shake taking a while. When I downloaded the app and asked the manager what the "Scan" option was for, he didn't know. In fact, he said he knew almost nothing about the app because his experience with it was "extremely limited". He said he wasn't even sure if this location participates in the "Earn $5 for every $50 you spend" Honestly, the only reason I didn't give this 2 stars is because I had been to a Steak 'n' Shake location in Memphis TN that gave me an amazing first impression and the food at both locations is really good, as well as the prices. TL;DR +Great food +Great shakes +Great prices -Slow service -unattentive staff P.S. Pictured is the Birthday Cake shake. Totally worth it 😃

tried to go through the drive through at 9:35pm. hours say that they close at 10pm. the place and the menu were lit, we sat there for 3 minutes in silence. no one came over the speaker and said a word. we had to wait until an employee came out to take out the trash to ask if they had closed early and he said yes. someone had just gone through the drive through ahead of us; they were still at the window when we left. definitely a very unprofessional and negative experience.
