Dumpling De' Chef

We ordered a soup, dumplings and a chilli beef on rice. The soup was the worst I have ever had, it tasted like packet beef stock watered down to nothing, those cup of noodle soups you can buy from a Asian grocery are 100% times better. The chilli beef half the plate was covered in oil and the veg they used were a poor choice but it was still eatable. The Dumplings were nothing special but you could argue they are the best in cranbourne but that's nothing to be proud about as there is little to no competition. My wife is Chinese so we eat at alot of Chinese restaurants and this place doesn't deserve the high rating it has, but I must admit when this place first opened many years ago it was pretty good. Also owner was asleep in side the restaurant as people were dinning.

I ordered the steamed rice, salt and pepper chicken rips and pineapple fritters. I didn't receive the pineapple fritters or ice cream that goes with it, the steamed rice was so hard and dry it's like it hasn't been cooked and the chicken was pooling oil. I have ordered this several times and it's usually amazing but not tonight. I rang the restaurant to be told they would give me a store credit for the 2 small scoops of ice-cream only! The food was inedible but yes let's only focus on the ice-cream 🤦‍♀️ The lady who answered the phone was stuck in the middle for which I am sorry. Especially while the owner was being rude and dismissive I would have given zero stars if I had the option...

I am a Chinese who loves and knows dumplings. I like the dumpling and the seating at DUMPLING de CHEF. If only regional areas have more Chinese restaurants as good as this one, then people in regional area would understand, accept and enjoy Chinese culture much more quickly. I don't blame locals in regional areas hold some kinda bias towards China and Chinese since I tried Chinese restaurants in the areas of west gippslands.

Ordered in store and waited 45 mins for my food. Not a good start!!! Got the food home to find the honey chicken I order had NO honey and the chicken was dry as sticks. Chicken and sweet corn soup OMFG!!! It was lumpy and tasted absolutely disgusting. Dumpling were ok. Sweet and sour chicken with rice was ok considering the little amount of sauce!! The prawn crackers must have been about 3 days old because they were very stale. Will definitely not be ordering from this place again sorry. 👎🏼

We ordered a huge order through Uber Eats & when the driver arrived, he canceled the whole order instead of transferring the job to a new driver! I called the restaurant to see what happened & what we could do to fix it. They informed me that they still have my order & it’s ready to go but there’s no driver. They said they will call Uber Eats first then call me back. I had another employee call be back & explained that Uber will refund me the first order. While on the phone we made sure to re order correctly & they stayed on the phone until the order came through properly. When the food arrived we were really happy with the amount we got and that it was all still hot. Both pork & veggie dumplings, vegetarian noodles/rice, sweet & sour pork & lemon chicken was super delicious. My partner said that the special fried rice really hit the spot! We even got a special little note saying sorry for the order being stuffed around with a couple drinks which was a nice touch for the uber stuff around, very thoughtful 😊 Thank you to the team for being super amazing & helpful. Will get food from here again!
