Tommy's Drive-in

Excellent food and service! It's just off of 321 and 85 in an unassuming building, but it did not disappoint. The burgers were fresh and tasty, the fried pickles were perfect, and the portions were big. Great service has been hard to come by, but Samantha provided exceptional service to us. I don't think our tea glasses got more than 1/4 down before she refilled throughout our meal. I would highly recommend skipping the typical in fast food places around, and visit this place!

First time here. Have driven by many times. I ordered Alaskan Fish dinner. I asked server what kind of fish is it? She did not know. She asked. All they would say is fish from Alaska. Took the chance. WRONG!@@^$&^ Was cooked hard. Dry. Crusty. Did not even look like fish! No taste. Hush puppies hard. Like Civil War musket balls. Green Cole slaw. RANCH DRESSING! No tartar sauce. . We asked for manager. Brian came out. We explained issues. The look on his face was like even he did not know what it was. He apologized and removed from bill. Made things right. . Other guest had cheese burger with bacon. Said bacon good. Fries cold. Even grandson would not eat them. . Rest rooms in really bad shape. .

So this was my first time going to this restaurant with my family and we had a party of 9. When we got there we had to split up and sit at 2 tables next to each other in the middle of the restaurant, no big deal. We had 1 waitress that was very nice and took our drink order. Another waitress took out food order. After ordering the young black girl kept checking on us to make sure we were OK. After ordering it took our food over 45 minutes to come out. We had burgers, fries, hot dogs, and tenders. Nothing crazy from there menu. Once the food finally got there the fries we good that I had but my burger was not seasoned at all. The other adults in my party all said the same thing. When we were checking out one of the employees was making jokes right in our face cause my sister in law debit card was not working like she didn't have any money in the account. She just needed to activate her card. So I paid for the meal and we told them the food wasn't good and we probably wasn't going to come back. She didn't think that was funny then.

Took my wife for Valentine's day. This is the best eating joint in Gastonia. They have been there forever for good reason. The food and service is top notch. You must try the fried dill pickles! Get yourself a cherry Sundrop setup and take your pick of the menu. EVERYTHING is terrific. If you want the nostalgia of a 1950's drive-in while eating delicious food, Tommy's is the place. They have dine in and drive up carhop service. And they are right on hwy. 321 so easy in and out. You can't lose. Dang, I'm ready to go back!!

Waitress friendly but the place smelled of raw sewage! My husband got a rubbery burger and I got a foot long hot dog that was not good. It made me sick all night long. My advice don't go until they fix the problems and serve better non frozen food and fresh buns. We only ate cause it was a long ride home and we needed something fast

Not a place to go if you're hungry. Arrived at 2pm on a Saturday. Waited an hour for our food (two burgers and fries). Meanwhile three tables that came after us got their food. The staff were sweet but got a lot of things wrong and weren't super attentive. Though it was clear they were trying. The food was mostly pretty good but the bacon was really tough and the chili cheese fries weren't good.
