The Groove Train

Waited roughly 40 minutes for our food, wasn’t busy at all. I ordered a medium steak which was almost $40 and it was over cooked, tough and chewy with a pile of potatoes no salad or anything. Hungry and sick of waiting I just ate what parts of the steak I could. I let the waitress know I wasn’t happy with it but I won’t make a fuss and will eat it but requested a small side salad because who just wants potatoes and steak for $40. Was clear the waitress didn’t care at all she said “okay” to my complaint and didn’t care to carry on the conversation. My partner and I waited around for the salad but decided waiting around would make the bad experience worse. I went to pay and they tried to charge me $10 for a salad I assumed would be for free considering I got such a trash meal for an expensive price. Such a shame considering it’s Valentine’s Day Literally will not go there again.

I wouldn't normally write a bad review, especially when every retail and food business and in fact any business in Darwin are struggling with staff. but my experience with the Grove Train this afternoon has left me underwhelmed. We normally go in to the restaurant to eat and go there in pick over most places in Casuarina as they have a good variety. we ordered Uber tonight and ok simple and easy mistake that the sweet potato chips were missing, but my husband had ordered the Moroccan lamb. at $27.95. there was no Moroccan spice in it at all and just tasted of sugar. also when we got the container it was only 2cm of Moroccan lamb. I contacted the restraunt , to give them the opportunity to fix this issue a. I asked directly to speak to the manager. he was absolutely not taking onboard any of my complaint but was happy to drive out my sweet potato chips, kind of late as my daughter was already eating her meal. wasn't even interested in what I had to say about the lamb and the fact that I am repeat customer that frequents their often. sorry but you poor attitude will not have me returning this is somthing that you could of fixed easily.

Worse pizzas in Darwin, 22 dollars for a barely warm pizza, all the topping fall apart and from the pasta, everything was watery like it was frozen products. Pasta taste and feel like cardboard, Toppings are extremely cheap quality and not tasty at all. What a shame... not talking about the smallest piece of tiramisu ever for 9dolls.

2020 updated to 2 stars: I ate here last night and copped a massive olive pit in my pizza, which almost broke my teeth. I asked to have an incident report filled out, just in case there was some unknown damage. I was flatly refused by management. They offered me a discount. The discount was 10%, which is the same discount I get for my members card. I had been going to this restaurant for 2 years (my original review from 2018 is below), and did not expect to be treated with such disrespect. 2018 Review 4 stars: Decent family friendly restaurant, that's good for a catch up or dinner before a movie. They have excellent chicken burgers and a wide variety of foods on their menu, and are accommodating towards requests for alternative side dishes. They've also got a pretty good rewards/loyalty system where they will give you a free dinner on your birthday. They also have San Pellegrino mineral water, which doesn't seem that common in the NT.
