The Argosy

Our food was lovely - Tasty, hot and plentiful. Fiona was our fantastic waitress. I received the generous 40% off mains email offer by email so me and my wife decided to try out the new refurbed Argosy. The look of the pub is much nicer now with a welcoming and modern feel. We was genuinely surprised at the very reasonable prices on the menu and they are more than fair for what must be tough times for all pubs. The menu quality and choice is truly excellent with something for all. My wife had chicken fajitas which she really enjoyed and I had a 10 ounce ribeye steak - my steak was over cooked and the black pepper sauce was forgotten, but thanks to the fantastic service from our lovely waitress Fiona she brought out a freshly cooked meal, with a perfectly cooked medium rare ribeye steak. The chef did an excellent job of the second meal. I hate having to send food back and rarely do but I had to in this instance, as I really didn't enjoy the overcooked first steak after a couple of bites, to see if I could just manage with it so I wasn't waiting for another meal. I was surprised this happened as I ordered on the app and it asks you how you'd like your steak, but as I said the chef made a lovely second steak and everyone makes mistakes so it's how you correct them that counts and Fiona offered us some free puddings which were a very nice gesture and they again were really good like our mains were. We'll definitely return again and I recommend the Argosy to everyone.

So we haven't been in since the place was refurbished and we were pleasantly surprised. The team were friendly and we was served by the manager and James. The manager helped us with the o2 app and was very accommodating. The food came in a timely fashion and was lovely. We had fish and chips which was just the right size. 2 for £11. The deserts were lovely.recommend the brownie

I booked the table to celebrate my 40th birthday, we found the restaurant clean and the staff friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food service was good as there was 16 of us we all got our meals together. I thought having to search for gluten free options on a tablet was a bit frustrating as it was also needed for checking in your guests, maybe a second tablet would be an idea so that guests can take time to choose from the menu. The food was nice although my Eaton mess did not have any strawberries or raspberries in so was a bit disappointing. Overall we enjoyed it and will return for a future visit. regards Laurrie.

Went on a Sunday night with partner. Place was very clean and had a nice atmosphere. All staff we interacted with were friendly and attentive. Service was fast and food was tasty, with good portions. We liked the little grabber machine they had there: thought it was a fun little touch. Value for money was superb; reasonably priced food and cocktails were 2 for £8.50 or £5 each. Would recommend. Several screens showing live sport but wasn't rowdy at all.

This visit to The Argosy was filled with Football Friday and a Scampi & Chips. The food arrived in good time for a fairly busy evening, the quality did not disappoint and quantity was decent. For a friday it wasn't overly packed, but it certainly wasn't empty, welcoming and warm environment with plenty of areas to view the sports.
