A good number of vegan/non-dairy options which is definitely hard to find in a bakery. Macaroons were flavorful but definitely had the texture like they’d been sitting out for a while. Cake was good, not too sweet or heavy, definitely moist. Cute bakery spot, if they’re making items you can watch as you eat, the kitchen has windows. Indoor and outdoor available.

The best sweets in Michigan hands down!!! The shop is clean, desserts are delicious and of course the staff is amazing. I order my custom cakes from here and they do an amazing job! If you happen to go there make sure u try the cinnamon bun and macaroons they are delicious!👍🏻 I would highly recommend this place!!!!!!

Thank you, Manuel. She genuinely cares for customers and the community. She makes it a priority that her customer are taken care of and always remembers them. Some of my best friends have Celiac disease, others are vegan, and then I have dietary restrictions also. There is always something for someone and she never disappoints! My grandpa who just turned 95 loves the cake here and I cannot wait to go back and get a slice for him. The desserts always put a smile on his face when I surprise him :) Make it a top priority to stop here and indulge in homemade desserts. For the Love of Sugar is truly a gem of the Motor City. The crowd is excited about the treats. I was not impressed with any of the cakes I tried... I went with a group and we all technically sampled each others slices... we picked our pieces based on appearance and name, one friend loves the chocolate chocolate cake and suggested we all give this place a try. I will just say, the decor was cute, the cakes were nice to look at, and the customers view into the baking experience is a nice touch. But the cake was seriously lacking. It was dense, tight and dry... I would almost say dehydrated. I have never had that experience with cakes. I will also add the name, For the Love of Sugar is slightly miss leading... none of the cakes we tried were sweet... my friends suggestion of the chocolate cake, was probably the best, but I will say she loves dark chocolate, and it was definitely dark, slightly bitter and lacking the sweet for me, but tolerable. The carrot cake, banana cake, and two others I sampled were a strong pass for me. I did try a macaroon, and they were pretty good. There was a seriously long line and the staff was super nice and dealt with the crowd well. 🤔10 = great; 1= NOT great Decor: 10 Customer service: 10 Cakes: 3 Macaroons: 8 Trendy: 10 Will I go back: 1 😉(if my dark chocolate cake loving friend wants to go back, I will ride with her, but I will pass on a purchase)

One of the best bakery/coffee shops I have been to! Manal is really sweet and warm like her cookies.. I have been visiting this place since 2018 driving all the way for 30mins- really worth it! I adore the decor, it shows how much though they put-in. When you walk into the store take a moment to look around and you’ll notice everything is in frames- like each one of their cakes is like an art. For me personally- this place is inspirational. -For the Love of this store!
