Tea House Formosa

I originally gave Tea House Formosa 5 stars, because I loved coming here to meet up with friends and to study. It had a great, relaxed environment. However, I recently visited and learned that their menu has changed quite drastically. They no longer serve any savory foods (and I loved their savory foods). I feel like the overall atmosphere has changed over the last few months, and unfortunately not for the better.

A very pleasant tea shop with an extensive list of teas in all kinds of flavors. The staff is friendly, polite, and helpful. Get a pot of premium tea to share, build your own tea drink with toppings and other options, or try a dessert. They've put quite a lot of thought into presentation. My wife loves finding anything specifically Taiwanese in the area, and THF is definitely worth visiting regularly!

Ambience: more of your modern, aesthetically-pleasing tea house with wooden furniture and porcelain cups and pots. Perfect place to study with friends or by yourself, to have a nice stop for a date, or just have a nice hangout spot. Price: One teapot (roughly 4 cups) is $9.95, but it does include one free refill, snacks and cane sugar cubes on the side! Recommendation: I've only had the pleasure to have their Pearl of Fruits Black Tea. It's incredibly fragrant with a mix of different fruity flavors; I'd recommend drinking it if you have a cold or if you need something refreshing. Since it does have fruity tones to it, I don't think you need any extra sugar needed in it, but the cubes are provided with the pot!

I really liked the atmosphere here, the light, the chair, everything was just so cozy. And, it's a plus that the staffs are super nice and helpful. The food, on the other hand, was fantastic. My friends gave a lot of compliments about the food. We got the ice cream sandwich the Taiyoki (fish bread with red bean). They were tasty and great for snack. We also got a the tea float with ice cream and four season milk tea. I can't comment on the tea float but I think it's great for those who love ice cream, my friend were too busy eating it so I assume it's good. The four season tea on the other hand was not too sweet and very refreshing, even when it's hot. Definitely not the kind of milk tea that is made from powder. Overall, would definitely comeback for hang out occasions. I saw some people were studying so that might be great for that as well. However, I do have to say that the environment were a bit loud if you want to study, bring a headphone for sure.

I really appreciate how this place specializes in Taiwan-themed teas and does so in such a classy way. It opened in October 2016 so I'm regretting only visiting now. The real value-add here over the other bubble tea shops in Atlanta is the atmosphere. Even though the prices are comparable, Tea House Formosa comes off as a bit more upscale and sophisticated. Unlike the other competitors, this venue offers a few semi-private booths along the back wall. The wooden-themed inheritor is also nice--come see for yourself.

VERY DISAPPOINTED I used to come here everytime when i visit Atlanta, they used to serve good food, such as the tea leaf egg, pork rice and chicken nuggets. Those taiwanese food was one of the reason for me to come. But now they changed the menu completely, they only have dessert which lost the ' taste of Taiwan'. I ordered a butter cream oolong tea, with 50% sugar, but still very sweet. The butter cream taste very salty and not as smooth and rich as before. Now the tea house is more like another Starbucks, which is very noisy and packed with students working with their laptops. Before that, the tea house was quiet and relaxing place, but now i just wanna leave and not come back anymore A photo of the food before , and a photo of what they serve now. Making the drink to look 'fancier' is not the way to keep your customers

Delicious? Not anymore! Atmosphere and interior were always good here. I used to come here for some really nice local Taiwanese chicken nuggets, rice, bubble tea and etc. Not sure if they changed chefs or something. But they removed all those nice cuisine from the menu and replaced it with some ridiculously expensive and awful desserts, I felt really disappointed. Probably will never come here again. The only star just for interior design.
