We were driving from Nanaimo to Victoria and stopped here for dinner. Our server (Max) was very nice & attentive! We had 1 appetizer and 1 Entree each. (Pictures attached) I really liked the build your own fish tacos. I wasn’t too hungry when arrived, but ended up finishing the whole thing. If we are back in the area, we will be back!

Not happy. Sometimes when I go there, it's great; great service, great food. Other times, it's awful. Like today, I get served food sitting in a 3mm deep pool of fryer oil. I was eating and couldn't figure out why my fries were all soaking wet, as if with water. As I get to the bottom of the dish, I realize it's a huge pool of oil. I was starving, so I kept trying to eat it, but it was a huge amount of oil. I told the waitress that it was inedible, and that I couldn't eat any more of it, but I was still hungry. She dgaf and handed me the bill at full price. So I paid full price and tip to feel sick from ingesting a ton of grease and to leave still hungry. Even though it's my favourite restaurant, I can't afford to pay for food I can't eat.

Been to JJ many times in the past. Haven't been in six months. Went to JJ for early dinner today by myself. Only one other table of three in the restaurant. The server was engaging and pleasant. Had the salmon bowl. Sadly, the salmon was so tart and salty it was mostly inedible. The sauce - ginger and soya - was bitter and excessively salty, practically brine. Vegetables were okay. Only ate half the dish. I'll probably visit again, but today's meal was a waste of money.

RAT IN A TRAP CAME OUT OF NO WHERE AND STRUGGLED ACROSS THE FLOOR IN FRONT OF 5 FULL TABLES! Took them a few minutes to come and remove the screaming rat. They took the drinks off our bill maybe to try to make us not post anything about it but that’s just not okay. Our server was very friendly but im sorry that doesnt make up for a live rat stuck in a trap running across the floor!
