Strachan’s Ice Cream And Desserts

Whether you are visiting Dunedin or are a resident, you don't want to miss visiting Strachan's! We will often skip desert while dining out and instead stop here and walk-off the meal on the Pinellas Trail or walk down to the marina. The staff are super friendly, the ice cream is all hand made and they also have other desert treats. Everything is top-shelf and the vibe is, clearly, a nice family atmosphere!

The ice cream 🍦 tasted really good and treated us with kindness. They could’ve closed the door on us at closing, but they didn’t want to disappoint my son. It was our first time there, so we took a moment to pick what we wanted. No one complained, but I could tell the young people were ready to enjoy their evening. I had to ring the cowbell and let them know we appreciated it. Man was it good. This will be our regular ice cream shop.

We came to Strachan’s after our boat rental in Clearwater. Despite being extremely busy the staff were all really friendly. The young man who took our order answered all my wife’s questions and was really nice to my son. My Boston shake tasted great! Definitely coming back here next time we are in the area on vacation!

Stachan has become my regular stop every time I am in Dunedin. Their ice creams are tasty and rich, smooth in texture. Nothing tastes artificial. Plenty of flavor choices. I love their vanilla malt shake, as good as that of Little Anthony in Tucson. The parlor has a cool 1950s vibe. Portions are generous, they don’t skimp on quantity. The employees do their best to serve quickly. Telltale sign of durable success: Strachan is never empty, there’s always families in there.

My teen son and I walked in to look at ice cream for after dinner (we would only be in town for the night)… after 2 minutes of looking around we quickly debated the rationale of the dinner then dessert in social norms. We ended up selecting 1.5 pounds of various fudge, grabbed a glass bottle Coke, and continued our dinner discussion at their outdoor table, while munching said fudge. AMAZING. Did I mention we were on our way to dinner?? 😂 The vibe of the place was cool, staff super friendly and engaging (ring that bell at checkout!) and only negative is we never tried the ice cream (I made the adult decision that fudge would be our appetizer and we went to eat dinner). We’ll be back soon!!
