Stockbridge Restaurant

One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in my life and the best in Scotland. The various courses on his menu are diverse, and amazing. The dishes are extremely intricate with layers of flavors. Each bite was a bit different. Sadly, the owner is closing up shop and becoming a chef elsewhere come end of this Saturday.

We had the 3 course menu at £52 per person, followed by some drinks. The complimentary bread wasn't anything special, although their chive vinaigrette was pretty good. For starter I had the pork belly and it was great. Perfectly cooked, great flavour and good portion size. As a main I had the venison loin, it was delicious and cooked to perfection. The mains come with seasonal vegetables and potatoes, these are pretty bland and honestly not to the same standard as the mains. I selected the Millefeuille for dessert but it nothing like I expected. There was no puff pastry, this was replaced by rectangles of pure chocolate. I have to say that this was my least favourite part of the meal. Drinks were good, service was ok. Overall the food was good but I wouldn't necessarily rush back.

We had an excellent dining experience. The customer service was first class and we were constantly provided with some small additional appetisers while waiting for each course, each of which was served in a reasonable amount of time. The food was nicely presented and very warm and tender. The portions were entirely appropriate for a three course meal. The atmosphere is gentle and calming. The price is very reasonable for the level of attentative customer service and quality food on offer. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.

A very atmospheric restaurant with only 14 tables, so quite intimate, with low volume background music and low lighting in the basement. We were served by the head waitress who was excellent throughout the evening. Took our drinks and food orders, corrects the owner when she brought the wrong beer, brought the bill without being asked and saw us out. The best service we have seen anywhere in the world and she’s Scottish too. The food was great from bread, amuse bouchée to starter through to dessert. A limited set menu but interesting Scottish produce.

Is really really good, from bread starter to finished everything cooked perfectly, I also like the way their dessert not overly sweet and have some sourness to balance make it very appetising even after full up. Definitely the best restaurant I had in Edinburgh .Value for money too. Will definitely come back for another day.
