Cafe Nom De Plume

It is a good place to have brunch. I had a lovely time here and the food was quite good. (15-01-2017) Today I went for the second time to Cafe Nom De Plume with a entourage of 5 people. We had a very nice time. The food is good, not expensive and it is a great place to meet friends. (18-09-2018) I just love to come back here. Preferably alone as well because I could spend hours here, working or enjoying the food. It's lovely and staff is quite friendly as well.

A local friend introduced us to this quaint little cafe/restaurant. A modern take on Scottish and English classics, like haggis and mash or beef mince with Yorkshire pudding, with outstanding execution. Great selection of drinks, with many local brews. Highly recommend! (But, beware of child policy after 8pm...)

It's hard to go wrong here as there really is something for everyone, and then some. I went out with a large group - very mixed. Some carnivorous, others herbivorous - some couldn't eat dairy, some couldn't eat gluten. Others were just damn picky. On top of that we arrived without a reservation during one of the busiest times of the weekend. Despite this, we were ushered in to wait while the brilliant staff frantically re-arranged tables and plants until there was enough space for us to sit comfortably. Then the poor waitress came along to take our order. After about 20 minutes detailing all of our requirements, she got the chef along and took us through each item on the menu explaining exactly what is in it and how it is prepared. Absolutely stellar service. Once we'd managed to choose, it was only 5 minutes from ordering that things started arriving on our plates. Even though it was absolutely packed and we had been so specific. And they hadn't cut corners either - all beautifully prepared with ingredients so fresh they were practically still growing. I'm not 100% sure where the chefs here honed their skills - but it is easily some of the best food to be had in Edinburgh, regardless of who is behind the counter. All rattled off with perfection to a rule that never seems to change. Brilliant every time. Would I eat here again? You'd have to lock me up to keep me away!
