We host makers markets (Endless Love Creative) in Fruitmarket's Warehouse space. The space is so lovely and the team is super attentive. Fruitmarket is in a great location just outside Waverley station and all exhibitions are free, they also host workshops and similar events to ours, from DJ sets to Book fairs, they have a lovely cafe and a bookshop too.

It has a great cafe with good food and good staff. I was however once very bluntly and directly asked if I wanted to tip and how much by a member of staff (I usually do tip) which felt very American-style which I don't think should be getting replicated in Edinburgh. I'm used to the more subtle, low-pressure approach.

Excellent gallery with 3 large exhibit halls and it was free. The cafe looked excellent. Do their Night Walk for Edinburgh (Cardiff and Miller) for a truly intriguing audiovisual experience. Good on Scotland for gallery funding!

Lovely space with plenty of books and art to browse. Light and airy cafe on the grounds too.

Interesting exhibition at Edinburgh's leading contemporary art space. Thought-provoking works on class, economics, resilience

Visited for a wreath making class with Narcissus Flower School. Had a nice coffee in the cafe which had a nice atmosphere, all staff were very friendly, the venue was really cool. Very handy that it's right beside the train station. Highly recommend Fruitmarket and the Narcissus classes.

Half raw and half airy white, Fruitmarket is a contemporary art gallery regenerated from two adjoining former market buildings at the Old Town, adjacent to the Waverley Station.
I like the contrasting composition there. The extension on the west exposed all the raw materials of the original warehouse to form a dark and industrial space for both performance and exhibitions, while the existing wing on the east provides purely white space with natural light.
It is interesting to found the existing east wing had undergone a rework which concealed the wall openings on the upper floor and removed some fine architectural details including the staircase, both done in the 90’s. A lost of view and spatial quality for a more neutral white cube space which might serve its purpose better on the upper floor, and an improved layout on ground level.

Opposite the City Gallery is this small gallery showing an exhibit of Daniel Silver. Staff were friendly. Is free to enter. Small area but well laid out. The artist wasn't for me but I enjoyed it all the same.
