Bolton Fish Shop

FINALLY! A Fish and Chip shop that cooks actual chips. THANK YOU. So many of our local Fish and Chip shops produce exactly the same average fish and chips, it doesn't seem to matter which one you go to, all seems to taste the same to me using cheap frozen mass produced chips from a box. The chips from here tasted like they had been freshly cut from an actual potato, so easy to do and makes so much difference, hopefully it wasn't a once off due to supply, as I've had chips from here before that have felt like the mass produced junk? The fish was nice and fresh too. Will be back for sure.

Go off peak. Usually the best but this shop is so popular now that they drop the ball when it gets too busy. Tonight waited for 30 minutes. The steak sandwich was exceptional but the flake, chips and south Melbourne dim sim were burnt, cold and too hard to eat. I have rated half the score because I could only eat half my dinner. Sorry for the bad rating but it cost me $27 and I am still hungry.

They hurt my feelings. I'm in walking distance and I love to support local but.....after phoning in I was told 15-20 mins. 40 minutes later the fish was great, the potatoe cakes excellent, dimmys great but the chips???? Guys, if they're white put them back in the fry. More love for the chips. I'll get over it but make sure you cook the chips. Werd.. .

these so-called “homemade chips” is definitely just a ploy for them to save a few bucks, they claim they are healthier and tastier… but they’re just not… go back to using purchased chips as numerous times i have avoided going to your shop because of them. edit: this is the most disrespectful reply to a review ever, any chance i had of going back is now gone… you are a terrible business, may i suggest asking the customers when they order which type of chips they want if you have both frozen and homemade?
