Absolutely loved it! All the staff members were so welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious and couldn’t put my fork down. What a lovely cafe. Will definitely be back soon. ❤️

Incredibly welcoming - was just stopping for a quick breakfast before heading to the airport and almost justified missing my flight in leiu of staying here longer. The breakfast burger was insane, and the owner and the team were lovely. Cheers!

Amidst all of the other “brunch” places in the area, I would have to say that Matte Black is at the top of my favourites! The food was absolutely amazing and the staff are always the nicest people. It just has an amazing atmosphere and I will definitely be back for more :)

After a poor experience on a previous visit where ....
“One of the girls is very rude refused to stamp my loyalty coffee card because I wasn’t getting takeaway even though it was a takeaway drink but I was drinking it in house. Quality of the food was poor, I ordered a smashed avocado on toast with feta and poached eggs and I could only eat half.”
... could have been a better experience.
I have revisited and was extremely impressed. We were welcomed on a Sunday morning on arrival. Offered water upon being seated. The staff were very friendly and our order was delivered quickly and as ordered. The food was great 👍 very filling and cooked excellently.
I will be rating this venue highly after my poor first impression.

The burgers and coffees are great.. You can tell the owner cares, he even comes and checks on you!
Updated: this place has had a heap of renovations and is even better since covid. The new menu is ace!

It is a nice place to have your breakfast. It was my first time but I don’t think it will be my last. Convenient as close to my house and very nice staff.

Great coffee, friendly staff and perfect toasted sandwiches. Can't wait to try this place after lockdown is over. The menu looks amazing.
Update... the food is amazing. Been here 3 times since lockdown ended. Chicken burger, tasty, crunchy and good portion, but if you want something next level go the beef brisket benedict. Beef brisket, poached eggs and hollandaise. Just wow.

Had a lunch business meeting here today. Had booked for the courtyard. Yes staff were welcoming BUT when only 2 of the 3 food orders arrived I expected my superfood bowl to be not far away, especially when one of the other orders was also a superfood bowl. Asked my guests to start their meals. Waited approx 10-15 minutes and then went and asked where my meal was. The wait staff said "there had been a mix up in the kitchen and it's only 5 minutes away." I went back to the table and after another 10-15 minutes went back in (interrupting the conversation at our table yet again) and told the staff to cxl as my guests had finished eating. We departed not long afterwards. A chance to recover from such poor service was also lost - no offer to give me something to take away or to deduct the coffees from the bill. NOTHING/ZIP .. Nothing apart from a feeble "sorry about that." And no, there was no shortage of staff. Won't be back.
