The Grilled Cheeserie

We came here on a recommendation from our tour guide at the Carter House (You should definitely go there too!) and were very thankful we did! We split the Pimento Mac and Cheese and the Buffalo Tots. Both were very flavorful and unique. Super yummy food and the staff was very helpful and kind. Definitely a must-stop while in Franklin!

UPDATED REVIEW 2021: The quality of the sandwiches, and the amount of filling has improved since my initial review in 2019. I believe the owners have adapted from past feedback that the portions should align better with the prices. Everything still tastes good, but this time I didn't leave feeling hungry. REVIEW FROM 2019: For $38 for three people, I would have expected MUCH more hearty sandwiches. They were grilled nicely, but so thin in terms of filling. The side of tots was tiny for the price, and my son ordered kettle chips and we were surprised that at $2.50 for an order they came out in a factory-made bag (i.e. like Lay's chips) NOT fresh made. Honestly, at these prices it makes NO sense to eat here when you can also get bagged chips and MUCH more generous portion sizes for the money at a national chain like Panera. The hype over this food truck gone brick and mortar is not warranted based on the price and what you actually get. I only wish I remembered to take pictures to show readers of this review (and the owners) just how thin the sandwiches were. Overpriced, under portioned for the price, but at least the sandwiches tasted good to bring what should be a two start review barely up to the stars.

Yum! That’s what I thought when we opened the door to the Grilled Cheeserie! It smelled delicious like perfect grilled cheese!! There were 4 of us & we all tried something different! Everything was wonderful! 🍋 lemonade was yummy! They have milkshakes! Can you imagine?! I love I’ll have to go back to try milkshakes!

Came here for lunch on a recommendation from a coworker and was not disappointed. It’s a cute cafe style place, narrow but long. Clean, bright, lots of interesting menu choices along with a build your own. I got the Buffalo Chicken with a side of tomato soup. I mean, c’mon, what goes better with grilled cheese? The sandwich had crispy browned cheese edges made perfectly by Valentina - grilled cheese guru - and was deep and complex with pepper jack cheese and a blue cheese aioli. The soup was rich and flavorful and really just the best side with a grilled cheese sandwich. It’s a bit on the pricey side but it is Franklin and the sandwiches are made to order. Here’s the breakdown: Nice, inviting place +1 star; Valentina saving my neck by pointing out menu on counter +1 star; great soup +1 star; awesome sandwich +1 star; Milkshakes (even though I didn’t have one yet) +1 star. It’s going into the rotation!

The food is excellent! Great choices for Grilled cheese, soup, and salad in a bright, casual dining atmosphere. Loved the retro diner style in the dining area and the employees were all very courteous and helpful. Would definitely recommend. I had the Pot Roast melt with cheese and bacon tater tots and they were Amazing.
