Big Shakes Hot Chicken & Fish

When I’m in the mood for some of Nashville’s Hot Chicken, Big Shakes is one of my top options. The food is never a disappointment. They offer a variety of spice selections allowing you to have your chicken as hot as you would like. The Fried fish and shrimp burgers are among my favorites. The venue is small and intimate and when they’re not playing oldies, you can enjoy live music from some of the local talent.

You're going to want to add space on your hot chicken list right next to Hattie B's and Prince's. Big Shakes is a must try. Flavorful chicken that is noticeably less saucy (read: oily) than a lot of other places. No atomic orange bread slices here; and thus far none of the other side effects typically associated with a hot chicken visit. Generous portions for reasonable prices and sides that are more than just serviceable. They'll talk up the greens, but don't sleep on the white beans either. If you're not into chicken, the catfish is reason enough to visit. Just go!

They added on my extra catfish since I couldn’t do it through UberEats AND they provide cheese on their salad. I got plain catfish 3 pieces. The beans tasted a little different than expected (Issa no for me). NO PORK added in the sides (which is a PLUS). Everything else tasted good. Can’t wait to order again. And please add fries on the UberEats menu. I need it with my catfish.

This is my second time visiting Big Shake's while in the Nashville area from out of state. The first time I had gone, it was pretty good, but this time I was blown away by how good and flavorful the chicken was. I had the "Stop Drop N Roll," and my husband had the "Rambo." We had been to Hattie B's the day before, but much preferred Big Shake's. The prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly and the food is awesome! We will absolutely return if we're ever back in the area.

This place is always so good. Personally I feel they have the best Hot Chicken in the Nashville area. And if you want it HOT, be careful what you wish for, their Executioner is good and it will lit you up. They know how to bring the heat. Just know that on a Friday or Saturday night you could wait beyond 90 minutes when they get real busy so get your order in early.
