Mackie's Barbecue - Frederick

We have eaten here twice now and they have some great food! Best BBQ, Ive had in Frederick so far. From the fall off the bone ribs, to the mac N’ cheese, and cornbread, everything we have ordered has been really good. It’s right across from FMH. Service with a smile! SUPPORT LOCAL OWNED BUSINESSES

Today was our first time eating at this delightful barbecue spot. The lobby is clean and cozy, with all sorts of cool barbecue paraphernalia on the walls. The owners were friendly and organized. The food that we ordered was so good we got beef brisket and pulled chicken, Texas caviar, green beans and bacon, and french fries. It was so satisfying. We live just down the street and when we got back we noticed that they had forgot to put in the coleslaw. We didn’t really want to go back but just wanted to let them know, and at that time they offered to deliver right away. Not only did they bring us an extra size bigger of this tasty coleslaw, they also brought two warm sweet, and fluffy cornbread muffins. I really appreciate that type of service.

Firstly, please look at the picture of the Brisket Platter - Supposedly 1/3 of Brisket and one side, I just bought for $16.95. The food was good but definitely NOT WORTH $16.95. This wasn't a uber order. I went there, ordered and got the food. I also purchased the rib platter that came with 2 sides for $15.95, which was more on point for the value. The food is good but not mind blowing. 1 star for taste, and 1 star for the "Brisket platter" portion.

So good! I lived in Memphis for some time and was BBQ spoiled. I haven’t found a local place that comes even close to memphis bbq. Decided to try Mackies and it didn’t disappoint. I found my new bbq restaurant in town and couldn’t be more excited. Though my waistline may disagree. So glad I gave it a chance!

Five stars. The fellow behind the counter tried to sell me on his 18 hour brisket but I was a man on a mission for ribs. The ribs were as good as can be. The bones each one pulled away clean. The meat was tender and flavorful everything I would expect. The baked beans were nothing special. it’s as if they came out of a can. A real hangup I had though was trying to leave the place with my hands for the entranceway door has a knob that must be turned and pulled inward, sounds like no big deal but can be tricky like I said when your hands are full it’s all a person can do not to drop anything. Overall it’s a great place and next time I’m in the area I’m looking forward to hitting it up again.

Mackie's is a great hole in the wall kind of place. The atmosphere is warm, and the customer service is great. I met the hostess and one of the cooks and they are both very nice. The food is fantastic, especially the sausage. Texas Heart Attack is a great item to get to share. Also ask about their dessert menu, it's legit. Better than Black Hog by a mile in my opinion.
