Capital Ale House

This is a pretty good restaurant and it has a lot going for it! There is a lot of seating, the staff was kind, straightforward, and knowledgeable, and the food was good. The restrooms were also clean, food came out in a timely manner, and the atmosphere was great. Prices were pretty normal for the area and the food was good. The food presentation was also fantastic. The only reason I’m giving this place four stars instead of five is because my meal wasn’t super filling. I got the shrimp tacos and I wasn’t full afterwards… which was very disappointing. I didn’t feel like there was enough shrimp, and there needed to be less cabbage, and it needed to be cut down smaller. The taste was fantastic, it just didn’t make me full unfortunately, so I wouldn’t recommend the dish if you’re super hungry. I would absolutely come back again but I would order something else.

Excellent service. The food quality is good. Drinks and beers are excellent, when they are available. Even though the drinks-menu is very long, found that many of the ones I was looking for were not available. Still, the ones available were good. I did notice that, even though the restaurant and seating area was around 50% full (see the pictures), the waiting time was 45+ minutes due to which we just went straight to the bar seating area. The bartender was very helpful in recommending drinks and food from the available ones. Still, 5 start experience ...!!!

Hands down the best restaurant I think I've ever been to! I travel across the country A LOT and have been to several different places, and I can't rave enough about this place. Literally everything was phenomenal. So much that my husband literally offered to buy a bottle of the sauce his wings were made with. Yall, this is the number one place you HAVE to try if you're in Northern Virginia. Highly recommended, I can't wait to come back 😋😋 definitely get the sausage platter it's amazing!

So, my hubby and I have young children so we don't get out much; I walked in and was shocked, a blast from my childhood...the old SPANKYS! They kept the layout for the most part, I think the same booths, it was amazing to step foot inside. And then we approached the bar and we were spoiled rotten by the staff... we got to taste a few beers before ordering. They catered to my being gluten free (the GF brownie was divine) and I had a seltzer drink over fresh crushed blackberries. Fab-u-lous establishment...we will be back.

We were 4 adults and 2 children. Got seated right away. Kids menu was great. Comes with an ice cream sandwich topped with whipped cream. The little ones eyes lit up. Made her day. The adults enjoyed a great beer selection. The food was delicious. Orders were 2 different burger choices,lamb burger and the salmon dinner. Appetizers were the fried pickles,perogies and pretzel. Add the cheese to the pretzel it is fantastic. Everything was fresh and well plated. A very good family experience.

We honestly went because the other places in town open on a Sunday evening at 6pm were packed. This place was busy but we were able to get a seat at the bar. Tap and wine list was decent but right off the bat the beer I ordered wasn’t on tap and hadn’t been crossed off the menu and the wine my wife ordered was in the same boat. We went to order food and they were out of at least one item to make about 75% of the things on the menu. We settled for some easy bar items and rolled with it. The wings I got were okay (nothing stellar but at this point the best I could hope for). My wife just settled on a small Caesar and white chicken chili. The chili had gnarly hard chucks of meat and a legit crust on top of it. Flavor was okay but at the end of the day she ended up spitting out half of it because there was weird chunks. We nibbled as best we could and didn’t complain because to be fair our bartender was clearly way over worked and understaffed but she was polite and friendly during the entire transaction (and similarly to everyone else at the bar that night. That was the only saving grace of the entire experience. I honest wish I had skipped the calories and just had a beer.
