Old German Bakery And Restaurant

Food is definitely hardy I love the fried potatoes here. Crusty exterior tender inside -yum. Meats are breaded and fried - lightly seasoned so you can taste the meat nicely. German pancake - oh dear that thing is bigger than my head- crunchy a bit on the edge spongy tender in the middle - you can taste the subtle butter and cream in the batter without heavy seasoning of sweetness or saltiness- very enjoyable to eat the whole thing! Sauerkraut is not real here. It’s really purple cabbage cooked in cider vinegar and sugar but I have to say I still enjoyed it very much. Happy eating

This place is our favorite to eat while in town. Their homemade biscuits are the absolute best. The sausages and kraut are good, and the lunch specials are always well priced with a large tasty portion. The schnitzel covered in gravy was amazing! You really can't go wrong with any of their menu items. Give them a chance and you won't be disappointed.

Been a long while since I had genuine German food. This was quite good. The sausage was very good, the pretzel as an appetizer was outstanding. Only thing I thought was off (and this is simply a personal preference), the sauerkraut was a little...sweet? Didn't stop me from enjoying it but it was a flavor I didn't recall from when an old GF's German mother made sauerkraut. Still and all, very nice place for a meal!

We did have to wait in line for over 30 minutes or more to get in the door and we barely made it in time for breakfast. They were super busy and we went in with 2 other couples who were seated and given menus and waited on immediately, however we had to wait several minutes for someone to stop by. When they did they were a little short with us, but they did get our drinks and the menus and our order in. We did have to wait a while for our food and I have to say the food was very good although I would have preferred it to be more hot. This restaurant is highly rated and the last time we visted the wait was so long that we decided to go elsewhere. You definitely need to put it on your stop while visiting Fredericksburg.

While shopping in Fredericksburg on Saturday and Sunday. We saw this spot and decided to have breakfast Sunday morning. The crépes were very good I ad 1 🍎 and 1 🍓 crepe, no complaints. I had the farmer's omelette and it was definitely great, the biscuit was very good too. My girl got a croissant 🥐, hash browns and extra crispy 🥓. I wanted to stand in line and get some pastries from the bakery but the line was long. I imagine it's definitely as great as the food was. Definitely a must!!!
