Ramen Instant

A modern, café type of Ramen shop. I had the garlic Ramen - the quality is about half a notch below traditional specialty ramen shops in the South Bay, but for under $10 after tax per bowl, it's a good value. I ordered mine with extra hard, バリ硬 noodles and こってり thick soup. Even at extra hard, the noodles didn't have the consistency of starchier Kyushu thin noodles, but it was not bad. The consistency of the egg was good, but the marinade didn't soak in enough. Service was friendly and prompt. I'll be back to try their shoyu ramen and karaage curry. 12/9 Update: I tried their karaage curry today. The fried chicken was perfectly seasoned with mirin and garlic for under $10 after tax, prepaid at the counter. This shop is authentic Japanese at very reasonable prices. Again, service was friendly and fast. Even though I live 25mi from here, Ramen Instant is now my new go-to Japanese café for ramen and curry. I will try their shoyu and truffles ramen next time. 12/23 Update: Their modern shoyu ramen with extra hard noodles is excellent. IMHO, better than their tonkotsu base. If hungry, go for the karaage curry. Otherwise, shoyu ramen's a nice light meal. In the coming weeks, I'll try their mazemen and tantanmen.

I love the noodles here and I also appreciate the "build your own" option. I would recommend the modern style because it's just as tasty (although the photo is traditional, I don't have a picture of modern). Very fast and friendly service! They also have a ramen anime on the TV which is super charming!

I got the spicy ramen lvl 2 and it was moderately spicy. The ramen is ok for the price and the noodles isn't as tasty as other ramen shops in the area like yokohama or shu but its decent. I do like the customizable bowls where you can pick your soup and toppings. All in all, its a decent ramen shop if you want something that's quick and on the go even for ramen.

Prices are very reasonable (~$9 for the bowl of ramen I got), and the menu is customizable. The format is a causal order-at-the-front ordeal and then you seat yourself. You can choose the "healthiness" of your broth, the type of meat you want, and potentially substitute for a vegetarian broth. My dad and I ordered their special, the green tea ramen, and we both thought the flavor was very unique and tasty! They were also able to accommodate my request for a vegetarian broth. Wish the food came out at a hotter temperature though.
