The Rustic Lantern Taphouse

We were on a road trip and was glad this place was on our route. We loved walking into this historic building that's maintained nicely. The service we received was great, the food was fantastic and it was awesome that they had BOGO steak on our night, delicious. We loved the fresh salad bar and our cold beers hit the spot. Thanks for a wonderful experience, my only complaint is you're to far from my house to enjoy y'all more.

So here’s the thing about this place, they had a rough start with the kitchen staff. Decor is lovely and pricing is fair. Food has improved but isn’t what you’d expect. I still visit occasionally as I’d rather support this business than the new one that opened. The owner put a lot of effort into this business. It’s worth a visit , very family friendly.

I loved the experience . The beer is so cold it comes with a frosted top. The waitstaff is so warm and friendly you'll think your among family. I had the special on a Friday which was catfish. What was delivered to my table was a huge fish fillet more than a foot long with crispy natural hand cut fries and hushpuppy's to die for. Packed with locals from our Texas heartland, I kept expecting Billy the kid to come sauntering down the magnificent stairway in the back center of the place. It's across the street from the courthouse on a beautiful town square. This the kind of Americana so many want to see more of. Discover this now before some east or west coast billionaire swoops in and turns it into .......well all know what that looks like.
