Hershey Road Family Restaurant

I rated Hershey Road Family Restaurant 4 stars as an overall score. Convenient to 4 hotels. Eve,our server,was friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself was clean and a pleasant place with a family atmosphere. We each had their Senior Pick, which is a smaller portion and was ok for me. I think my partner could have eaten a larger portion. He had the Mile High meat loaf with homemade mashed potatoes and a salad.I had the hot roast beef over homemade filling with homemade mashed potatoes and gravy. Beef was tender. I chose 2 sides instead of dessert. With the Senior Pick, you get a choice of one side and dessert. So I chose one of their vegetables of the day,braised red cabbage for my extra side. Only complaint I had was the gravy....too much pepper. They have a Loyalty Program you can sign up for,where you can get points for discounts for food and birthday and anniversary certificates. They also give a 10 % Veterans discount daily and a 10 % Senior discount on Tuesday.Breakfast all day,but limited choices. Daily specials. A nice change from your chain restaurants.

Everything tasted great. Staff was super nice and friendly. They talked to us a lot while we were waiting because we sat at the stools. They went above and beyond our needs and wants. The only complaint is that the food was only warm not hot when we got it and my baked potato was hard. Everything else was great!

My family and I ate here today and we were sadly disappointed. We ordered mozzarella sticks as an app and they were very good. I ordered wings for myself because that's usually a safe bet for a diner and it was. My girlfriend on the other hand ordered a cheese quesadilla which comes with peppers and onions inside and lettuce and tomatoe on the side. She requested that they add tomatoes inside the quesadilla also and the server said she would inform the cooks. So once or food came out her quesadilla did not have the peppers and onions that come standard with the dish and only had the tomatoes that she requested. On top of her food being made incorrectly we found a hair that looked to be from our server on the tomatoes which were served to the side of the quesadilla. We pointed out the mistake and the hair and the server immediately blamed the cooks only(while rolling her eyes) which was extremely unprofessional in my opinion. Minutes later our server brings "ANOTHER FRESH QUESADILLA" with onions and peppers and tomatoe inside like it was ordered. Upon delivery of this "NEW" dish we realize that the peppers and onions were completely raw and added to the same quesadilla that my girlfriend was served the first time. YES!... The same one with the hair on the plate! So we pointed this out and the plate was taken back to the kitchen to be made fresh again. Finally a few minutes late an actual new Quesadilla was brought to our table and it was hot and freshly made but did not contain the tomatoes inside as requested! At this point we requested to speak to a manager. We are told that the owner was too busy to speak with us and our entire meal would be complimentary. Moments later I went to the restroom and found the sign which is posted in the photo below staring that children eat free on Monday's with and adult purchase of 8.99or higher and other daily deals. This information was not visible anywhere else on any menu or anywhere else I could notice which was confusing to me. Most importantly what irritated us the most was the fact that the server immediately blamed the cooks. In my professional opinion(I'm a Sous Chef and manager of 2 restaurants in a resort in NE Ohio) blaming a co-worker for a mistake multiple times is tacky and highly unprofessional. I would rather the server had simply apologized and did her best to correct the situation without throwing blame on any one individual. Furthermore I am under the impression that the first re-cook was the servers pathetic attempt at solving the problem herself and simply plucking her own hair off the same plate she brought back out.

Restaurant was very clean and staff was very friendly. The food is reasonably priced and a great value. The portions are the right size not too much or too little. The food was prepared in the way it was ordered. It's a great place to eat at a reasonable price. It offers homestyle entrees for any appetite. It has great daily specials.

I have to say, I was less than pleased with my meal. The coffee tastes burnt and I couldn't even finish one cup. I ordered the challah french toast, which was burnt on one side. The bottom, of course. I asked for my bacon to be a little undercooked, because I dont care for crunchy bacon... it was also overcooked. On top of that, the waitress was virtually non-existent and only came around to take our order, deliver food and bring our check. It was not a busy time, so I dont feel there was any excuse for the quality of service we received.
