Vaughan's Public House

What a hidden gem in downtown Hartford is Vaughan's. The Irish pub fare is fantastic! I've ordered or tasted each traditionally Irish dish, from Bangers & Mash to Guinness Irish Stew to their terrific Fish & Chips and I've never been disappointed. The owner and staff are in incredible and welcoming and they always remember my face and my regular drink. It is difficult to find something that is not to like or love about this Pratt Street pub.

I had dinner and drinks with friends here and this place is awesome. It's a small place so the bartender, Jay, was also our server. He was awesome and really friendly. My friend is a regular here, so Jay already knew my friend's food and drink order. They have a number of beers on tap, and a limited menu. I'm not sure if the limited menu is because of Covid, but I had the steak tri tip at Jay's recommendation and it was DELICIOUS! One cool thing about this place is that their condiment container on the tables has HP sauce, or brown sauce.

Great vegan and vegetarian options! I’ve been vegan for 3 almost 4 years. And it’s very hard to find vegan options, especially at bars/pubs! But they had great service! They were able to make me and my mom (who is also vegan) something special! They got the appetizer, Buffalo cauliflower, and made a wrap with it and a bunch of veggies! It was Delicious! My brother had the fish and chips (he is not vegan) and enjoyed it very much! Great atmosphere! And a great place to hang out with family and friends!! Highly recommend!

I had a pleasent experience here. I ordered the Shepard’s Pie, Guinness Stew, and a Guinness Brownie. I have to admire the food quality, the taste of the food was homemade and savory, and had a unique pub flavor to it. Vaughan’s is definitely going down as one of the best pubs in the Hartford area, if not one of the best in the state.
