Bouncers at Nevermind Bar in Hawthorn Glenferrie instantly assumed my disabled friend was drunk from the way he walks - he has Spastic Cerebral Palsy. When we tried to explain about my friends Cerebral Palsy the bouncer would not listen at all, instead turning voilent and pushed my disabled friend and my other friend. My disabled friend was outside of the bar, not on the property. I don't recommend ever going to this bar especially while bouncer no.785 is still working there. We used to be regular customers, I will never go back again. This bar is not "an assuming friendly quaint bar" as their advertising would have you believe. The bouncer assumed that my friend with a medical condition was drunk, and was extremely rude and aggressive toward him.

Nevermind Bar advertises itself as an "assuming friendly quaint bar", however on the night of Thursday the 12th of May, the actions of the bouncers at this bar were anything but that. Two of our friends were refused entry based on there disabilities. The bouncers assumed they were drunk when really one has spastic cerebral palsy while the other suffers knee issue through Patella dislocation. When we went over to explain this to the security guards, they refused to listen to us, speaking over us and acting volatile. We were met with hostility and abuse from security, with bouncer no.785 pushing our friend with cerebral palsy even though he wasn't even in the bar and then grabbed and pushed me when I was telling him about their conditions. What was worse was that the manager did appear, but instead of attempting to the difuse the situation, he just stood there doing nothing and watched. These actions were abelist,discriminatory and hostile, anything but the " friendly quaint bar" that Nevermind tries to pass itself off as.

Nevermind is a fantastic little bar! The atmosphere is cozy and warm! There is ample amounts of indoor seating (even with coronavirus restrictions) and the staff here are welcoming, friendly and happy to chat! This place serves an extensive range of drinks and food so if you're looking for lunch, an easy dinner or just drinks then this is the perfect spot!
