Green Papaya

I've passed this restaurant on several occasions as I would go to eat at other restaurants in this plaza. It always looked like maybe it was closed or empty as you can't see inside. But I love Vietnamese Pho and had been interested to try this place out. First of all, I was pleasantly surprised with how cute this restaurant is on the inside. It's clean and quaint, but with enough room for dining for even a group of 8 people. The staff was attentive and I appreciated their unique menu options like crab claws and roasted duck pho. As a fan of crab claws, I had to order them. They came with a sweet and sour sauce and were very tasty. I then ordered the beef pho. Being my first time here, this is the benchmark to judge a Vietnamese restaurant on. The broth was good and it was filled with noodles. Although the beef was tasty, there definitely wasn't enough in the pho and the strips were cut very thin. Almost like roast beef. I also love Boba milk tea and was greatly disappointed they didn't have this on the menu. Therefore I ordered a taro smoothie instead. The flavor was good but it was an icy smoothie, not a milk tea like I would've preferred. They also charged an extra $1 for the Boba. At $8 I'd prefer to get another appetizer or dessert instead. Speaking of dessert, you most likely would want to go elsewhere. They mostly only had sticky rice options which didn't seem that appealing to me.

Only giving two starts because although the food was not horrible, the portions were super small. The iced coffee was only filled a little past half the cup, the broth for the pho was small and the amount of meat received was literally two pieces of flank. It also took over an hour to receive the order (I did place the order At the restaurant, but an hour is a little ridiculous)

This place is always good, I’ve been coming off and on for at least 8 years. I’ve never had a bad interaction with who I assume is the owner, even though she seems to have a reputation for being mean. She has on several occasions run the front half entirely alone, and as long as you are nice and understanding and treat her like a human being, she will always be kind in return.

The food is not bad. Small portion for the price charged. Service is not good. What is worse is they charge you 3% for paying by credit card. Definitely will NOT go back! Two days later, I found out the amount on my credit card is not what I signed for. The waitress added more tips for herself. Now I understand the reviews other people left about this restaurant being dishonest. We should all boycott this restaurant for this kind of behavior!!

Terrible rude service and dishonest. They charged for extra plates and the cashier gave herself a 16 dollar tip that she tried to hide from us. When we demanded that she talento off, she refused. We are calling the better business bureau about this poor excuse of a restaurant. Their nastiness and dishonesty gives the rest of us Vietnamese a bad reputation. Avoid this restaurant… they should not be serving food to the public.

Such a shame that such good food has dishonest owners, it makes me not ever come back here ever again . Be aware that these people will add 20% tip and will put next to it taxes. Do not pay your bill just how it’s make sure you get your calculator and do the math. It’s not correct to trick the customer that have kept your business going for more then 15 years. It’s time to be honest and at least put that it’s TIP. We are all going thru hard times during this pandemic and we understand food prices are high but don’t make the customers never want to come back here and you’ll be force to close forever. HONESTY IS THE BEST PRACTICE FOR ANY BUSINESS. You should be ashamed of yourself For tricking your own customers.

The staff can barely speak English let alone Spanish, the place is too cramped, and they they take way too long to serve the food. Also if anyone that does food delivery reads this avoid this place at all cost they’ll make you sit and wait 20+ minutes just to tell you that the food “is almost ready”. The food is alright but unless you’re really craving Vietnamese food there are better places to eat nearby so it’s not worth your time.
