Red Oak Fillin Station

I stopped there with some friends who live local. I had the brisket grilled cheese sandwich. It was so good, the combination for the smoked brisket with the white cheese on toasted bread was amazing. My.one friend ordered the catfish which he said was very tasty but just a little dry. Our server was great, she offered to take the fish back. The sweet tea made the meal complete. When I'm in Hot Springs again. I will stop back in and try more of the menu .

Discovered this place totally by accident when we were going to Anthony Chapel for a planning appointment since it is the venue where my son & daughter want to get married later this year. We were running early for that appointment so we stopped in the Red Oak Fillin' Station for a cup of coffee thinking it was a gas station & store (guess we weren't paying close enough attention to the signs when we pulled up). When we walked in we were surprised that it was a restaurant that welcomed us with the warm hickory/hardwood smell of BBQ. It was the tail end of the lunch hour so it was not too busy so we were seated immediately and enjoyed our coffee but the more we smelled the BBQ the more we knew we would be coming back after the appointment. We returned with a Party of 6 and we all ordered BBQ. I got the Sampler Platter with Ribs, Brisket, Chopped Pork, & Sausage. We are all from Memphis area so it is sometimes hard to impress us with BBQ outside our hometown, but we all agreed the Ribs were fall off the bone fantastic, the Brisket was fantastic, the Chopped Pork was just as good as home, and the Sausage was good (but I didn't think it was anything extra special). Only negative to the whole BBQ experience would have to be the BBQ Sauce options which were okay but nothing to write home about. However, the Brisket Mac n' Cheese is something to write home about as it is something I have never seen/had before and it is nothing short of fantastic...absolutely fantastic!! We ended the meal sharing a few pieces of Cheesecake and each one was delicious (though I cannot remember now what the flavors were). All in all, this was a 5-Star Meal in a very comfortable setting in what I could best describe as a Hunting Lodge. Staff was great and friendly & attentive which always makes a dining experience better. So glad we found this Hidden Gem and will definitely be back the next time we are in Hot Springs, AR!!

We ate here twice during our 5 month stay in hot springs and wished we had found it sooner. Hubby heard about it at the barber shop and the workers at the hardware store down the road raved about it. The brisket and ribs were delicious. I decided this was the place to go for my birthday because the Italian cream cake was to die for and just so happened the special that night was all you can eat fried, grilled or boiled shrimp and there was no problem requesting the shrimp cooked differently when they brought out more. We had the same sweet waitress both visits.
