Cajun Critters Seafood

Last time my family went here was about four months ago. Service was absolutely terrible. You know it's bad when you are given multiple apologies about things each time the waitress comes to your table. Some of the stuff on the menu is no longer offered, but the menu hasn't been updated to reflect this. On this particular trip, our food for a table of six people came out over the course of 1/2 hour....a few entrees here....a few there. My entree was cold when it came, but we were there so long at that point, I didn't say anything....I was just ready to leave. At the end of the meal, we told the manager what happened and we got our order 1/2 off. There was no excuse for what happened; there were just two or maybe three other tables with customers there at this time. We vowed never to return and we haven't. It's too bad because the food is good. The employees seem disorganized and not trained to run an efficient operation.

My family and I wanted to try alligator while we vacationed in LA. We went to a restaurant that is said to have the best and we were so disappointed that most everything we ate was deep fried. When we came to Dave's, we found they not only served gator but it wasn't deep fried. They have a variety of food. Everything we ordered was delicious. I have a feeling the rest of the menu is just as excellent.

I recently have gotten carryout from Dave's and I'm not very pleased. I ordered their gumbo, which is very good, but they forgot the rice the last two times I've gotten it even after mentioning that I would like rice. I also found huge chunks of shrimp skin in the seafood gumbo. There were even a very shards of crab shell in it. And with that I ordered potato salad which I never got, but I was still charged. We had not noticed this until we had reached our house, and I didn't feel like going back. They do have good food overall, but the service is a little bad.

It doesn't get anymore cajun than this. When you come here, expect to blow your diet. The bacon wrapped shrimp is deep fried(yes along with the bacon) and any stuffed potatoes are served like how pasta is served. My first dish here was the shrimp and tasso pasta and it was delicious and spicy. Service was excellent and caring.

Overall: If I could give Dave's a 2.5/5 I would. The restaurant wasn't truly bad in any way, but it wasn't good at anything either. Dave's was a mediocre restaurant in my experience. Food: The food was extremely average (crawfish etoufee and the shrimp, crab, and corn soup). Soups came out lukewarm, but they were decent. I was disappointed in the food options (many of the menu items described by other users were not available on their new menu). Everything just felt like it needed more flavor. My two dining companions mirrored my feelings (they had po-boys, soup, and gumbo). Atmosphere: Dave's felt like your average small-town diner. No complaints on the building, but there was nothing to be excited about either. Service: Our server was very good and kept our glasses full, but the food took a very long time to get to our table. The wait staff was one of the few things that Dave's did a good job with. Everyone who was on the dining floor was friendly and capable.
