The food was amazing! I got the medium sized chicken fried steak and it was absolutely massive, the gravy was well seasoned and the chicken fried steak was crispy! 10 all across the board. I ordered a side of hot tots, onion rings and mashed potato’s. I was not expecting a whole basket of rings, but they were delicious nonetheless. There are no words to describe the hot-tots but I definitely recommend getting them. The lady upfront was so kind, helpful, and just made the place feel so welcoming. Overall the place had a mom and pop shop country vibe. If you are in the area or looking to try something new you should definitely check this place out!!!

Come in, order at the desk. Seat yourself whatever you like and get drinks and utensils for your meal. They'll speak on the intercom for your order (number) Bought the 4 meat plate ($23.50) comes with 2 sides Sausage is generic, Ribs is very huge and tender, I recommend it Lean Brisket... taste like brisket, very solid but not enough smokiness and dry as usual... I would recommend the fatty instead. Chicken fried steak is also very good. Mash potato: potatoey with little chunks of potatoes, very good Mac n cheese very solid, What makes this place is the gravy... goes with everything Personally I would not recommend the sausage or lean brisket as their chicken fried steak, ribs, Mac n Cheese, and Mash potato are above average. What makes this food attractive is the gravy, not too thick but light and flavorful.

Hello everyone. This is the second time I've been to this location. My sister in law just loves it here and to be honest it's pretty good. We did have the chicken fried steak and some brisket, also ordered the ribeye. You come in and order and just look for an empty table, basically seat yourself. Dibs on the corner table in the back. We didn't wait to long for our food, they call a number that you're given when you order. Just head over the the food window and get your plates. I was really hungry and I know myself, I tend to just devour everything, but I have to say that the chicken fried steak was really good. It was hot, tender, crust was crispy, crunchy and well seasoned. The gravy was good and did complement the steak, but it wasn't a milk gravy, not sure if maybe stock based but it was good. We did enjoy the food and after eating we just kind of sat there and talked for a while, just took in the atmosphere. I know I'm not focusing on the brisket and that's because we came to try the chicken fried steak. But the brisket was good, I would recommend you come in to try various menu items, I haven't had a few things but the food is good. Come by and bring the kids, friends and family.

Have loved this place for a couple of decades now. Super nice staff. Great food, whether it’s the BBQ, chicken fried chicken, even the catfish. Best known however for it’s supersized Chicken Fried Steaks. Got a medium tonight so I had some for lunch tomorrow. Super crispy and hot! Sides are great. Fried okra is wonderful but I think the star is the fried zucchini!! Definitely worth your stop!! Yes… that’s a big pizza platter underneath the CFS. Yes… it’s really that big (a medium). Yes I ate half and it still barely fit in a standard square to go container.

We love this place... iconic spot for great Texas BBQ. If you know, you know what I'm talking about y'all. It's one of the oldest and best places to get your grub on. Everything here is great. Laid back Texas vibes. The BBQ is outstanding, and the sides are delicious. They serve one of the best glasses of sweet tea around. So, if you're hankering for a taste of real TX BBQ, then head on over to Hickory Hollow. You will be glad you did. Thanks, y'all!

Delicious food and very affordable! I got a chicken fried steak for $13 and the size was incredible. The mashed potatoes and the Mac and cheese were my sides and they did not disappoint!! Lastly, their sweet tea mixed with lemonade makes for a very tasty Arnold Palmer!! Definitely recommend! Decided to try something else for my most recent visit. Chicken tenders were very juicy and thick as they were advertised. The gray is soupy but not runny and the potato salad was fresh and very tasty!!!

To clarify, the actual score I would like to give is 4.3 but there is no such option. We came here during our first trip to Texas to try Texas-must-eat chicken fried steak, which was good. We ordered 4 meat platter, including the chicken fried steak, lean brisket, chopped brisket and sausage, with fried okra and hot tots; I would recommend all except for the sausage, which was not as good as I had expected. Most people we saw at the restaurant were locals and they seemed to be regulars. The ladies who took our order were super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place if you would like to try something that is authentically Texan.
