Cleburne Cafeteria

Omg!! I really like this place!?! It’s a cafeteria so I’ve passed it on many occasions. Had the fried fish and was pleasantly surprised. Being a Louisiana girl it wasn’t seasoned the way I season fish, but it was fried impeccably well. I’ll be visiting again. Everything I had made me curious to go back.

I never get tired of this restaurant. I have always loved the cafeteria style restaurant and Cleburne's fits the bill. We had the fried shrimp with fries and potato salad and also the Chicken fried chicken with macaroni. Everything was delicious! There are many options for desserts. They are all huge portions with plenty to share. There is something for everyone and there is always more than enough to take home for another meal.

Ok, this is the place you come for decades. You come here for the same reason everyone else does. Home cooking, friendly staff and large dining room. This cafeteria is the one that has what the others don't. The squash casserole, custard, lima beans, turkey and dressing. But, there's more! The servings are huge. HUGE. 2 days of eating huge. And excellent too. You can get the turkey and dressing, on a Tuesday in July if you wish. You'll definitely want to, I promise. Large selections of sides that are not available at the other cafeterias. Staff is constantly checking on you and the restaurant is always busy for a reason.

Cleburne's is a high end Piccadilly cafeteria without being high end in the pricing. I ordered to go but still looked around the place and will be back for a sit-down lunch! I had the chicken fried steak, mac and cheese and corn. I also had country gravy on the side. Everything was lightly seasoned but well textured. This is becoming a favorite way to prepare food. The atmosphere was pleasant and not loud. They also serve wine and beer. I wouldn't day drink while working but I would come here. It felt like a throwback to an era gone by but I wasn't afraid to go in and get food. I recommend this place if you like a cafeteria type restaurant!
