Squable

We really enjoyed our visit at Squable on a Saturday late afternoon at the bar. We ordered glasses of wine and wanted some small plates to snack on while we drink. Ended up starting with the biscuits which are huge and the jam was so delicious. After we saw a server leave the kitchen with a plate of towered tater tots we quickly asked our bartender to put in an order of those for us as well. These were tater tots topped with caviar, hollandaise, and salmon roe. Definitely the best plate of tater tots I’ve ever seen and tasted. We ended our visit with a delicious cold crab roll with brown butter aioli. We will be coming back to try more from their menu!

The food in squable is really good! The special gin martini comes with bunch of pickle veggies. The beef tartare was really good bur the bread can be better. The dumpling were not my fav! But the pasta and the ribeye were amazing! The dessert was pretty good too! I was seating and a leak start dripping on me i told the waiter and he was like oh yeah that happens… well fix it! Overall is s good place!

5-stars are generally reserved for consistency. This was my first time at Squable. The Good: -service was friendly and timely -atmosphere was lively on a Thursday night -the decor was warm and unique (oh hello drawer that pulls of the table for cutlery) -the bathroom was clean and clean 🧼 The Food: -burrata, arugula, hazelnut, grapefruit salad (YES) -fried fish (YES) -oxtail over Carolina gold rice (YES) -the dumplings (meh) We sat drinking, noshing, and talking so late we were the last so the kitchen was closing before we could order more. Greta place. Would love to go back.

Went for happy hour at the bar and really enjoyed the food, bartenders, and company! Queer friendly staff/atmosphere is always a plus as well. The fish was incredibly crunchy!! The seasonal broccoli and local mushroom dishes are both superb. The cashew cream squash was not one I would get again - the combination of flavors is not appetizing - but I understand it may be a vegan option.

I’ve been hearing about their brunch and it did not disappoint. Make note they only serve brunch on Sunday’s. My favorite was the focaccia & grapefruit dish. The focaccia was made with beef, pork & lamb. It had an amazing kick to it. I’m coming back just for this! The grapefruit salad was refreshing as it sounds and has inspired me to create something similar at home. If you haven’t gone. You definitely must go!

Squable is one of my favorite restaurants in Houston. Here are all of the things that I love about it - the parking is easy, you do need a reservation but you don't need to set an alarm on your phone to try to get one the day that they are released, the food is spectacular, the menu changes often enough that we never get tired of going, the ambiance is always vibrant without being so loud that you can't hear your dinner companions, the service is always always good. We went most recently on Saturday night to try the new menu revamp with some friends. I did my best to get photos of everything but some items made it into my stomach before I remembered to snag a photo. If possible, I enjoy the new menu even more that the older menu. The new chicken dish is simple but so so good and the vegetable lasagna is somehow better than the bolognese lasagna that it replaced. My favorite dish of the night was the acorn squash with blueberry bbq sauce but there was not a bad dish. Our server was also incredibly helpful with suggestions and dishes that he said could not be missed, we were not led astray. I recommend that you add Squable into your regular date night rotation!

We had a wonderful time at Squabble. The environment (we were on the patio) was nice and our server was phenomenal. She was kind, attentive, and had lots of insights on the menu. Our favorite item was the mussels toast (not in photos). The sour bread and pancake were also great. I didn’t enjoy the cheeseburger as much others but it was still good to try. Would definitely come back here.
