If you’re craving true, down home, Southern Soul food this is the place. Cornbread: Fantastic! Baked Chicken: Melt in your mouth tender! Okra: this was a style I’d never had before. Has shrimp and sausage! So so delicious! Mac n Cheese: just like grandma made Pork chop: my husband liked it so much he never even let me try it Come check them out!

Easy to find this place with maps, if you live near here you must give it a try. I was in the area running an errand, found this restaurant and gave a shot. I am full and satisfied, after asking the kind gentleman what the peoples favorites are he recommended a few. Fried fish, baked potatoes and ribs. I decided to go with “todays special” because it was baked chicken on a bed of rice and gravy plus two sides. Wow for like $14 bucks I had dinner and leftovers! Oh yeah a piece of homemade cornbread! I’d definitely drive here (from downtown HTX) to eat here again.

The food was sooo good. The Brisket was tender fall apart juicy the ribs were for sure on point and both were even better slathered with their sweet barbecue sauce that had a kick. The greens were for sure done right. I'm particular about my greens not having that overwhelming greens flavor be too pungent. They were really good. (So good I asked the chef her tricks to toning down but bringing out the natural flavor of the greens. She gave a couple hints which I appreciated) the baked beans were good as well. I suggest getting the Brisket and Ribs with the 2 sides for 20 bucks. Being honest the only thing that could be worked on in the restaurant wasn't the food it was exceptionally good and so was the service. For me it was the heat of the establishment it for sure could use better AC

The food and service here are amazing. I had the fish sandwich, fries and baked beans. Let me tell you about each item: The fish sandwich was stacked with two big pieces of catfish broken up to fit on the bun, perfectly seasoned and piping hot. It was SOOOO good. The only thing I would recommend to the vendor is to toast the buns so the fish sandwich holds better, but the taste and flavor was off the charts. This was not an avg fish sandwich. The fries I can tell were cut fresh from a high quality potato. Very thick and soft and had a natural potato taste rather than most places where the fries taste like they have been frozen. The baked beans were amazing too. A perfect blend of smoke, spice and sweet. Most baked beans the sweet overpowers everything but these had a perfect balance. My only knock is the soft bun (should be toasted) and the restaurant was too warm. Not enough to take a star away in my opinion, that's how good the food is. I will definitely be going back.

I wanted a baked potato. So I decided to try this spot. 1st time visiting this place and I was impressed. As soon as I walked in, I could smell the good barbque smell. Nice atmosphere, place is clean, and have a decent amount of sitting space. I ordered the Southside potato with beef. The baked potato was delicious. The portion size is enough to share for 2 or eat some now and save the rest for later. I love the names of the menu items. I will definitely visit again and try some other items on the menu.

Catfish was fried perfectly, with a moderate amount of Cajuny seasoning in the cornmeal. Sides are generous (about 1.5 cups). Green beans tasted fresh and well cooked but still firm (not mushy), cooked with onions but not swimming with ham or bacon. Okra was stewed down with a lot of meat & tomatoes - very flavorful!
