Alamo Tamale & Taco

When I entered Alamo Tamales, the 1st thing I noticed was its large menu selection and hand-rolled tamales, which can be a big draw for customers looking for variety and authentic, handmade tamales. The large menu selection suggests that there are plenty of options to choose from, catering to authentic tastes and preferences. Outdoor seating is available for customers who enjoy dining al fresco. It provides a pleasant atmosphere for enjoying a meal. Alamo Tamales provides fast service for those looking for a quick bite to eat. This was a significant advantage, especially during the busy period that I arrived.

I have to agree with some of the 3-stars. I've been getting tamales from Alamo for the last 23 years. It started at the Canal and Jensen location. The tamales were like my grandmother's. In the last year of the Canal location is when I first noticed the difference. Today 11/5/23 I noticed a real difference. The color and flavor is gone. They are bland in taste. The new generation does not make them as their mothers did or are not tough how to. As they are still good but are average at best and not worth $16.99 a doz.

One of the best places to get Tamales hands down. Great atmosphere, excellent service and the bean tamales are the bomb. Fresh hand made corn and flour tortillas, it's worth the drive, just be mindful of the location, lots of construction and not the best spot but you will not regret it. Worth every ounce of penny, gas, and hunger. It's insane.

I do not speak Spanish, so the server gave me HER choices. The tamales are the BEST in Houston. Unfortunately the prices have gone up A LOT and the tamales have less filling. The guacamole is superior and I have found EVERYTHING served there to be DELICIOUS. I have been buying tamales from ALAMO for more than fifteen years! Dr. Harris

I just absolutely love this place. I've been going here for years on top of years going back to their old location down the street. It's nice to see that their quality didn't change as they moved up. Still my favorite breakfast tacos in the city of Houston. Sweet bread is delicious and tamales always on point. It's definitely worth paying up for the hand made tamales too.
