Glad there is a James Coney Island left (others in the city near UH/TSU are CLOSED 😑). The frozen lemonade and onion rings were excellent and a welcome relief from recent dental work...
September 2023: After treatment from the dentist, I made my way to James Coney Island. Is it closed?!? No...opens at 11AM - and I'm first in the drive thru 👍. Got Mom a chilli dog and I had my usual onion rings and frozen lemonade. I had strawberry added this time and it was sweet enough to add a green tea bag and a bit more water. Tasted great and my dentist will be happy knowing I cleaned the teeth afterwards.
December 2023: Beeline from the dental office to JCI for a Chicago hot dog for Mom, a New York hot dog with chili, onion rings and a frozen lemonade. The food and beverage items were as delicious as they looked.

We had been curious about JCI and finally tried it today. The food was comforting and we liked it, and the service was quick and friendly. Our first visit happed to be JCI's 100th anniversary year so we are glad we went and we would go back.

It was my first visit and the staff was patient and helpful as I perused the menu. The food was delivered in a timely fashion and was quite good. The restaurant was neat and clean. I'll definitely return.

I've had the privilege of being able to enjoy James Coney Island Chili and Chili dogs ever since the late Seventies and early Eighties when they were on Walker Street in Downtown Houston !!!
And they have never DISAPPOINTED ME !!!
There use to be a heavy set Hispanic server who would sling the glass bowl into the plate and serve you up a bowl of 🥣 steaming delicious chili however you way you ordered it 😋 !!!
I believe MINUTE MAID PARK currently sits at that former location.
And nothing has changed ABOUT THEIR QUALITY SERVICE AND DELICIOUS FOOD !!!
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK 👍 !!!

JCI has very few locations left in the Houston area. I have been to this location multiple times and always receive good service. The food is good. Expect to spend $14 for a all beef 🌭 combo. A bit pricey for 2 hot dogs, fries, and a drink.
I recommend adding cheese to the fries

Still as great as it was when I first ate there 45 years ago! The Frito pie is awesome as are the original chili dogs. I was even able to fit in the Frito pie with my WeightWatchers program!

I had to travel from Southwest Houston to this location. It seems like they are closing many locations in the greater Houston area. I like to get the classic chili cheese dog with the mystery red sauce. It's like a watered down Chamoy sauce that pairs really good with the hot dogs. Be sure to try the Beef Sliders. THEY ARE AMAZING!!!

You wouldn't think it so but the hot dogs here are really good, and sometimes a hot dog is a nice way to mix things up over a burger. The toppings and even variety of buns make things more interesting than typical fast food, and it's not as greasy. Underrated American food chain. The inside also has nice retro seating that is clean and comfortable.
