The Southern Belle Pub

First time heading down to Brighton for a few years and we were looking for a place we hadn't tried before. Came across the Southern Belle and liked the look of it so took a punt. We were not disappointed. Loved the place from the moment we turned up. Despite being busy due to the Brighton Marathon being on, the staff were very attentive and welcoming from the moment we checked in. The look and feel of the place ticked all the boxes for us. The bar area has a great atmosphere, the room decor was great, food outstanding (awesome breakfast and had 2 evening meals too, sensational). Right across the road from the seafront which is what we want in Brighton, but away from the centre of town. And all of the staff deserve a shout out as they looked after us perfectly. It's only a small place, but I can't recommend it enough.

The best place to stay in Brighton, especially if you have a dog! Location is perfect to explore Brighton. The room was modern and spacious, breakfast was cooked to perfection and the staff were so lovely, helpful and welcoming throughout our entire stay. Couldn't recommend this place enough for anyone staying in Brighton.

The Southern Belle is a wonderful gem of a hotel, restaurant, and bar located right off of the beach. When you first walk in you’ll be greeted with an excellent bar where you can get a beer or you can step into the back with the cocktail lounge for a more relaxed drink. The rooms were fantastic with enough space to spread out and relax. Finally, make sure you get the breakfast or come down for dinner. You won’t regret your stay.

The place was absolutely brilliant. We came with our two year old and they were so welcoming to us all. She was allowed to stay in one of the pub rooms until much later than she could manage! Great size room with lovely big window and a modern bathroom. Walk-in wardrobe space too. Super friendly staff and brilliant breakfast options. I'm not sure whether we'll be back to Brighton to stay again but I'll definitely recommend it to friends who visit. Tiny bit of feedback: a door stop for the door between the bathroom and the room would have been really useful when getting the pushchair and suitcases in and out.

This is for the restaurant's Sunday Roast on Mother's Day. First of all, the dining room is an eclectic mix of design that I think works well. We had a toddler with us - who was welcomed with open arms and treated as a star. I had lamb (and beef). Both meats were delicious. The roast potatoes were cooked to perfection. The gravy was delicious, and the stuffing was amazing. Portion sizes meant that I actually had no room for pudding. 🤣 The staff were welcoming, friendly and were attentive without being over the top. The price was more than reasonable. I will be eating here again.

What a beautiful boutique hotel / bar. Great location! Staff were lovely and helpful. Loved the quirky room / bathroom design; clean and cosy. I had the vegan breakfast … wow!!!!!!! I think it’s the best I’ve ever had! Absolutely delicious! I sat at a table by the window and had a view of the sea. The only slight negative was the music playing from the bar which could be heard in the bedroom, making it a little hard to sleep. Although I am sensitive to noise and wasn’t out late … so I’m partially to blame for that one. Saying that … I’d definitely stay here again.

Just returned from three days at the Southern Belle and what a place this is. Our room was fantastic, huge bed, wonderful bathroom & shower and all very tastefully done. Staff are all so friendly and happy to help. The bar area is really cool and the food was great too. We enjoyed ourselves so much we've rebooked to go back in a few weeks. NB: this review is for the restaurant only. We sat in a room behind the pub, between the pub and the cocktail bar. The ambience is pleasant, it’s a very comfortable and relaxed vibe. I had a mulled wine, which was very sweet but warming. I had the lamb roast dinner. The meat was delicious, tender and tasty, not fatty. The portion size was very decent. The roast potatoes were perfectly done with exactly the right crispness. The food came quickly, the service was fantastic, the staff are welcoming and friendly. We shared a bottle of red wine, which was on the Sunday evening happy hour drinks menu. The sticky toffee pudding was lovely. Overall, a solid 5 stars for the food, service and ambience. The prices are fairly reasonable, too. Highly recommended.
