Texas Star Bakery

Cannot say enough good things about Texas Star Bakery! I gave them an idea with very little direction because I’m not artistic at all and they hit it out of the park! The cakes for my son’s birthday were not only awesomely decorated, but they were incredibly delicious. I got a simple white cake, but everyone raved about how good it was. These cakes really helped make my son’s birthday great!

We chose Texas Star Bakery for our daughters wedding this past weekend March 5, 2022. Our order consisted of a 3 tiered cake, a grooms cake, and 8 dozen chocolate dipped strawberries. Our daughter and son in law chose the marble flavor for tier 1 & 3 while choosing confetti for tier 2. I are the marble and it was outstanding and very moist. They did not want any filling so we used the frosting as the filling. The grooms cake was a Batman double chocolate cake. The chocolate dipped strawberries were larger in size than I anticipated. We received so many compliments from our guests on how delicious our desserts were! Thank you Texas Star Bakery for making our daughter’s wedding so tasty!

Came in last week with my son for a special treat. We got a cake pop and some cupcakes. The cupcakes were so dry and stale I wondered if they were old. I’ve had better cupcakes from the Target bakery to be honest. The best word I can use to describe the staff was cold— no greeting when we came in, no smiling, no eye contact, just silence as we ordered which made it feel uncomfortable. I want to support local, but I don’t think I’ll be back here— and this was not a singular experience, I’ve been coming here every few months out of convenience.

I do not recommend Texas Star Bakery because of their mess up and refusal to make it right. There is a running tradition in our family where when a child turns 4 that they have a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles themed birthday party and the cake to go along with it. On the cake we try to get as close to the same cake as possible in looks. We provided Texas Star Bakery with an actual photo of my husband’s cake when he turned 4 and asked them to remake it. They were VERY confident in their abilities to do it. They even upsold us to a larger sized cake so that they had more room to make the design. The cake cost us $250 to get it made. That is ALOT for a 4 years old’s cake but we were sure that with their confidence that they would do a good job of it. My husband picked up the cake the day of the party and was COMPLETELY disappointed in it. They mixed up the colors/weapons of the Ninja Turtles, the turtles looked horrible, they didn’t put our son’s name is the correct color. The manhole cover that is an iconic thing in the Ninja Turtles looks like just a swirly circle and completely out of place. It really did look like someone from a Wal-Mart bakery could have done a better job for so much less. When my husband was talking to a tall, older gentleman about what was wrong with the cake. the guy was completely rude and told my husband that if we didn’t like their work then just don’t come back. That wasn’t the point - we paid you $250 for a cake that you said you could do and it didn’t come out correctly and you are telling us you are not going to make it right without destroying the current cake because the party was in less than 4 hours. Be warned that nothing is their fault and they don’t believe in customer service. Pictures of the photo we provided, a picture of the cake they made (with my sons name marked out) and a picture of the receipt for proof.

I ordered my son's 1st birthday cake & smash cake from here well in advance & the day of the party I went to pick up the cakes and to my surprise they didn't even make either of the cakes! They didn't even attempt to call me or get ahold of me to let me know they weren't going to make the cakes instead they just left me cake-less for my son's very 1st birthday. The smash cake was the most important part of my son's party because it is tradition to watch them enjoy their first cake and this bakery completely ruined that moment for our family. That first birthday is a once in a lifetime moment you can't ever get back. I will never ever recommend anyone to this bakery and in fact I tell everyone to steer clear of this horrible place.

I use to absolutely love this bakery. I’ve gone to them for years. I’ve purchased several birthday cakes for my soldiers, employees, and friends in the past. I love to bake and decorate cakes myself but being active duty and having a busy life; I can’t really find the time to bake. I’ve gone to this bakery and have bought plain, unfrosted cakes in the past and they’ve always been reasonably priced. They’ve never asked me any questions about why I wanted a plain baked cake; they just sold it to me. This last time I was in, I showed them a photo of the cake that I’ve decorated and they charged me way more than I’ve ever had to pay in the past. I don’t sell my cakes. I make my cakes for my children, family, or my best friend’s children. That’s all. I even purchase the buttercream from them. I was still giving them business. The amount I was charged for the unfrosted cake was a few dollars less than what a fully decorated cake would have cost me. I know I can always go to a grocery store to get cakes but I’m all about supporting small businesses. Unfortunately they’ve lost my business and I’ll be sure to tell anyone I’ve ever recommended them to, to just look elsewhere.

I placed an order for my daughter's Paw Patrol birthday 🎂 and they did a horrible job. The cake decor was done extremely sloppy and untidy. Upon receiving the cake I asked why the decor was so sloppy and untidy and the manager was also unapologetic and rude. I will never order anything from this bakery again....another customer who was in the store at the time with me pointed out to me that maybe that's why they are hiring an Experienced cake decorator because its evident that whoever is doing it now is worse than an amateur. I wish I did not prepay for the cake....I was so annoyed and upset I had no time to order another cake from another bakery and why would I when I gave Texas Star Bakery detail information on how I wanted my daughter's cake done! They did what they wanted how can you make changes to a customer's order without informing the customer? The professional thing to do was to contact the customer and have the customer direct you as to what to do with his/her order. Not you do what you feel like doing with my order! My order was simple 1). Full white double layer tier cake. 2).Decorate cake with paw patrol theme. 3). Place #2 between the words Happy Birthday on one side of the cake 4) On the opposite side of the cake place the paw patrol logo 5). Evenly space the paw patrol paws 🐾 in the spaces around the cake. None of this was done as per my order! Who places paw patrol paws 🐾 on the belt of a cake? Look at the untidy novice sloppy work that was done on my child's birthday cake that I paid for in full before the work was even done! If you were not able to place #2 where I asked for it to be then someone should have contacted me and gave me the customer the option to direct you as to where I want it to go but nobody called me and said anything I was just presented with this foolishness upon arrival. And to add insult to injury the manager on Saturday July 4th was unapologetic, rude and plain unprofessional. I asked why did the paw patrol paws 🐾 have other color dye on them, the manager told me that's how they were given to them....the lies! I will never use this business again or recommend then to anyone.
